The environment of the Outer Domain was very different from that of the inner domain. Interstellar Behemoths had been all but wiped out within the inner domain, but nobody bothered with that in the Outer Domain. When major powers hunted behemoths, it was never to make the region safer. They wanted the precious materials inside their bodies. So the Outer Domain held not only countless kinds of Ore, but also many Biological Material.
Mars Beasts were monsters about five meters long that looked a little like koalas, though they were nothing like koalas in temperament. They lived in herds. On its own, a Mars Beast could hardly escape a planet's gravity and roam the stars. But when a herd gathered, their combined strength could raise a shared energy shield, allowing them to break free of a planet's gravity and stay safe in space.
Mars Beast herds varied in size. A large one could number hundreds of thousands; even a small one held several thousand. Whatever its size, most people who encountered one were doomed. Even the colossal beasts of interstellar space gave them a wide berth. Individually, Mars Beasts were weak, but there were so many of them that, once they swarmed a giant beast, they could gnaw it down to a skeleton in no time.
