Ch. 521The Infiltrator (Part Two)
Plot points and events
- Luo Qian and Nangong Jue explore a planet devastated by Bandits, finding the Lineage’s people and outposts brutally destroyed.
- Nangong Jue locates a strange statue holding a stone orb. When he touches it, the orb drains his strength; it does the same to a bodyguard. Luo Qian, however, can handle it safely.
- The orb proves to be the Stone Slave Jade Core. Luo Qian uses it to awaken and command the statue—the three-headed, twelve-winged Stone Slave. The creature can open rifts to travel between worlds and track targets by scent.
- After giving it objects left by the Bandits, Luo Qian receives a star chart revealing their lair. He realizes the Stone Slave could help Feng Feitian find and eliminate the scattered raiders.
- Luo Qian contacts the exhausted Feng Feitian and asks her to return. Their conversation turns awkward when she assumes he wants to help her cultivate; he ends the call and privately admits he is tempted, but decides to focus on work first.
- Back on Feng Feitian’s planet, Luo Qian sees that it has returned to normal, though he hides what he knows about the cause. He buries a small Saint Soul Stone for Li Shu, who notices something unusual about it.
Character developments and interactions
- Luo Qian shows concern for his bodyguards by handling the dangerous orb himself, earning their trust. His ability to use the Jade Core where others cannot remains unexplained.
- Nangong Jue demonstrates his uncanny knack for locating valuable objects, but is shaken when the orb drains him.
- Feng Feitian is worn down by the difficulty of tracking the Bandits and mounting pressure from her superiors. Her teasing misunderstanding with Luo Qian adds humor to their relationship.
- The Stone Slave becomes a powerful new ally, responding to Luo Qian’s commands and revealing its tracking and inter-world travel abilities.
- Li Shu remains connected to Luo Qian’s plans and ends the chapter intrigued by the buried Saint Soul Stone.
Significant themes
- The Bandits’ atrocities underline the brutality of the conflict and the vulnerability of developing Lineages.
- Luo Qian’s willingness to take risks himself contrasts with the selfishness expected of employers, strengthening loyalty among his subordinates.
- A mysterious treasure shifts the balance in the struggle against the Bandits, turning an impossible search into a tractable hunt.
- Humor and flirtation provide a lighter counterpoint to the chapter’s violence and Feng Feitian’s exhaustion.
