Just as the soldiers' defenses inside the Command Center teetered on the brink of collapse, a Yin Wind suddenly howled through the underground complex, and white figures appeared in the air.
In an instant, they surrounded one of the Espers. Like the Armored Man, he wielded the power of Invulnerability to Blades and Spears.
But the white figures raised their swords and spears and struck him. Though they left not a single wound, he screamed himself hoarse, then fell dead and made no further sound.
Five figures came into view, all clad in full suits of classical Eastern armor, swords and spears in hand. A faint silvery-white glow emanated from them, making them look extraordinarily imposing.
"What the hell are those things?"
The remaining Espers fired a stream of bullets in terror, but the figures vanished like air as the shots reached them. Once the bullets had passed, they reappeared.
"Those are Spirit Bodies! Good God... how can anything like that be so strong?" one of the ability users shouted after recognizing them, panic plain in his voice.
Their powers leaned toward physical attacks, and they had no good way to deal with Spirit Bodies. Nor had they ever imagined such things would appear inside a military base...
