Heaven and earth fell still.

When the angels began to chant, everyone held their breath, whether they stood beneath the dazzling Radiance or watched the events unfold on a screen.

For the angels were reciting the passage in the Book of Isaiah that told of Lucifer's fall from Heaven.

"God, is Lucifer about to descend?" Saint John XII, the old man who had set out to seek an audience, stopped in his tracks.

Then, ashamed of his hesitation, he hurried toward Saint-Ang Cathedral.

"The shining star, the son of the morning, the one whom no star could rival, the proud one who once stood at God's left hand, Pride, one of the mightiest archangels."

"So powerful was he that he grew proud. He sought to stand beside God, raised the banner of rebellion, and fell into Hell." In the White House, Hyde's emotions lurched like a roller coaster. "The Black Mass summoned him?"

"Yes. Of course. If it's him, everything makes sense," an expert murmured. "...After Lucifer fell from Heaven, he carved out Little Heaven in the depths of Hell. The Black Mass summoned Lucifer and opened a passage to Little Heaven. That's why we saw a radiant paradise where light gathered."

"Lucifer?" Bilborn's long-stilled heart felt as though someone had jolted it. It nearly leaped from his chest.

"I knew the Werewolves wouldn't act without a reason." Bilborn had cast aside his earlier doubts. He praised them inwardly. Praise my lord.

My lord Satan, of course. Nothing wrong with that.

The Vampires were beside themselves with joy. Even the Radiance falling on them no longer felt scorching. Everyone else looked devastated.

Light blazed across the radiant paradise, and a Throne slowly emerged within it!

Upon the Throne sat a handsome young man with three pairs of wings growing
