The priest's prayer lingered in the air as the light of a Divine Spell bloomed inside the Temple. The Believers looked utterly calm. They had seen so many Divine Spells that this was nothing new to them.
What interested them more was how a little boy in rags, who smelled as though he had not bathed in days, had come to possess such a fine gemstone.
"I'm healed?" The little boy put a hand on the leg that had been broken and struck it hard. The sharp pain made him bare his teeth. "I'm really healed..."
No sooner had he spoken than he seemed to remember something. He turned and dashed out.
He wanted to share his joy with that man and thank him while he still had the chance.
But when he reached the place where they had met, the man was nowhere to be found among the passing crowds.
Standing alone in the cold wind, the little boy murmured words that drifted away on the breeze.

Antonio, transformed into a short-haired brown cat, stood on a rooftop at the other end of the street and watched the little boy with a thoughtful gaze.
