On a night of dim starlight, even the moon failed to appear. Darkness swallowed the earth, leaving only faint traces of light to guide human eyes and keep people from being completely blind.
Fiona Russell first cast Void Breathing on herself to make sure she could breathe in the airless Outer Void rather than suffocate.
Then she layered a host of protective spells over herself.
She tore open a Scroll, and its magic formed a gate of light before her.
She stepped through, and the view before her changed.
In the boundless void, an enormous crimson moon drifted in silence. Beyond it, there was nothing but darkness.
What happened to the moon? Why has it been red lately?
Fiona Russell wondered.
For more than a month, the moon, which had always been bright white or silver, had shone crimson instead.
The change had stunned everyone.
The moon of the Main Plane only turned crimson when the Moon Demon God blessed the Vampires, and even then, the color usually lasted no more than fifteen minutes.
Now it had remained crimson for an entire month.
Many people suspected something had gone wrong with the moon.
But no one knew the answer, not even the gods. The moon was Lady of Night's domain, and no god or other powerful being would turn their gaze upon it without permission.
Fiona Russell studied it for a while but saw nothing different. She took out another Scroll, tore it open, and stepped through the gate of light.
After dozens of jumps, Fiona Russell finally reached the Dusk God's Divine Kingdom, the Plains of Ten Thousand Dusks.
The Plains of Ten Thousand Dusks did not hang alone in the void. The Divine Kingdoms of the Goddess of Ice and Snow and the God of Agriculture lay nearby.
