Kailakar returned to the carriage in human form, his face pale.
Miss Kexiya, whose pointed ears made her elven blood obvious, had a group of primitive people with her. Kailakar frowned when he saw them. "Miss Kexiya, who are these people?"
"They came with another Plane when it merged with ours, just like the Endless Forest. They barely understand our culture or the common language."
"I asked around. Lately, a lot of adventurers from Ganzros City have been exploring the forest. These people have clashed with adventurers several times. If we don't take them away, they'll end up as slaves to those Nobility."
"Slaves have it so hard... I want to take them to Rokya City and find someone to teach them, so they can settle in."
When Kexiya finished speaking, she noticed Kailakar's bare fingers and froze. "Uncle Kailakar, where's your Spatial Ring?"
That damned Black Dragon stole it.
Kailakar's face twitched, but he made up an excuse. "I made a deal with a Black Dragon. I traded my ring and everything in it for some Seeds that are very important to me."
Fortunately, the Black Dragon hadn't taken the Seeds when it left. Otherwise, he would have had to say he'd lost his Spatial Ring.
"Miss Kexiya, could I borrow your Spatial Ring to carry the Seeds?"
"Of course, Uncle Kailakar. Use it as long as you need." Kexiya took off her Spatial Ring and handed it to him. "Let's set out for Rokya City as soon as we can."
"Mm."
Kailakar took the ring back and filled it with Seeds. After rejoining Kexiya, he traveled along the edge of the forest with her, moving farther and farther away.
Overhead, a Black Dragon swept across the forest and followed at an unhurried pace.
Kishiniur, the Noble District.
