The noise never stopped, and neither did the fireworks.

The sky stayed bright, the clouds painted in color. Explosions rolled in, and the vast, tangled surges of Spirit Power were almost suffocating.

The first time Chen Shu saw it as a child, he thought the end of the world had come.

There were two main kinds of fireworks.

One kind was the boxed and tube fireworks ordinary people bought and set off. Those were powered by Spirit Power too; gunpowder fireworks did not exist in this world.

The other kind was set off by Cultivators themselves—

Generally, large fireworks required a Cultivator of at least the Third Tier. But a well-designed spell could lower the Spirit Power required. Advances in modern Runes had also given people finer control over Spirit Power, so fireworks came in all sorts of patterns.
