Most people here were fully covered, bundled up thickly without a single patch of skin showing—
The elite troops of Yi Nation and Blue Nation wore battle armor. The auxiliary Rune arrays inside could handle all kinds of climates, including extreme heat. The other troops wore only standard-issue uniforms, but those had multifunctional inserts that still kept out the heat.
By comparison, the Duqin Government Forces and the Watchers looked shabby. They wore thin uniforms or everyday clothes, with cloth wrapped around their necks and heads.
Zhang Suannai, meanwhile, was dressed for the heat as usual, as though neither sun nor scorching temperatures bothered her.
She wore a loose white short-sleeved T-shirt, with an orange stripe on one sleeve and a sky-blue stripe on the other. It looked fresh and youthful.
Below that were shorts, showing off a pair of long, straight, athletic legs with skin so fair it dazzled the eyes. She wore training shoes and rainbow socks, and had braided her hair into a plait that hung down her back. She looked out of place against both the landscape and the soldiers around her.
But she really was beautiful, with a fine figure and a wonderfully appealing air.
The most entertaining thing, though, was what she did.

Zhang Suannai sat cross-legged atop an early-warning War Chariot, spinning round and round with its spiritual-sense Detector until her braid
