The Formation's eye was like a lake of light, completely swallowing Yan Keling and the Fox Demon. They could only guess what was happening from the sounds outside. The fight did not sound especially fierce; at least, they had not heard a single scream.
"Fellow Daoist Jiang, are you holding up?"
"I'm fine!"
"Do you need our help?"
"No!"
"Oh, great! We're trapped and can't get out for now. Hang in there!"
"I can handle it!"
Jiang Lai fell silent again as soon as he answered.
By then, blood covered the underground palace. There was not a sound patch of skin on his body, yet the worse his injuries grew, the more resolute his gaze became.
The instant he had spoken to the Fox Demon, his attention had slipped. The Azure-Robed Swordsman had seized the opening, his Long Sword flashing coldly as it slipped past Jiang Lai's guarding arm and thrust toward his body.
Caught off guard, Jiang Lai could only turn his heart away from the blow while pouring Spirit Power into his Defensive Runes.
Pfft!
The sword tip pierced the outer layer of Spirit Power defense with ease. It met his body, harder than Star Iron, slowed slightly, then drove in.
It should have struck his heart. Instead, it veered just enough to pass through his left shoulder.
But Jiang Lai advanced rather than retreating, and even dropped his defense.
Without a word, he put every ounce of strength into a punch.
In that instant, the swordsman looked past Jiang Lai's rapidly approaching fist and into his face and eyes. He seemed to realize that the boy had offered that opening deliberately, but it was too late to dodge.
Pfft!
The Heavy-Armored Soldier's Long Spear also pierced Jiang Lai's body, making him shudder. He merely narrowed his eyes.
