Meng Hai had been asleep, but Luo woke him directly.
A tall, middle-aged man appeared before Meng Chuan. Divine light blazed in his eyes like ten thousand Daos, and merely standing there, he suppressed the void and the ages.
Yet weakness and decline were plainly visible in him. Even Meng Chuan could see it.
Meng Hai's condition as an Immortal Emperor was truly dire. He still had to bear part of the cost of reflecting the Heavens, forcing him to spend most of his time asleep.
"So you're fellow Daoist Hongjun?" Meng Hai looked at Meng Chuan and laughed heartily. He showed no impatience or displeasure at being disturbed.
It was a small thing, but Meng Chuan appreciated it.
"I was still asleep when you last visited, fellow Daoist. I regretted missing the chance to meet you. Today, I've finally gotten my wish." Meng Hai was warm and friendly.
Meng Chuan smiled back. "I've long wanted to meet you too, fellow Daoist Meng Hai. I only hope you won't blame me for disturbing you."
After they exchanged a few pleasantries, Luo explained why she had brought Meng Chuan here and told Meng Hai about the Golden Cores he had given them.
At the sight of the Great Dao Golden Core, Meng Hai's spirits lifted. He looked at Meng Chuan.
"Fellow Daoist, this is far too precious."
"Fellow Daoist Luo already said that." Meng Chuan smiled. "Please don't refuse. A fine pill ought to go to the person who needs it."
Meng Hai fell silent for a moment, then said solemnly, "If you ever need our help, fellow Daoist, you need only ask. Neither Luo nor I will refuse!"
