Ruthless's sudden appearance was a surprise to Meng Chuan, but not entirely unexpected.
After all, he had already let slip that he intended to leave. Ruthless—or anyone else—might have come looking for him.
"Great Emperor, I'm not leaving just yet," Meng Chuan said with a smile.
"When will you go?" Ruthless asked.
"If nothing unexpected happens, I'll leave soon," Meng Chuan said.
"I've found a way to reach the future, and I should be able to meet all the conditions."
"Once I've checked for anything I've missed, I'll probably be on my way."
Ruthless listened quietly. After a while, she spoke.
"Your journey will take you across Space-Time. You must be careful."
"Don't worry, Great Emperor." Meng Chuan smiled.
"I've already been to the past. The future won't be any different."
"Besides, with my strength, few people in the past, present, or future could hurt me. There's no need to worry."
Even in the Sacred Ruins Era, a Quasi-Immortal Emperor counted among the mightiest.
Except during the final decisive battle, Meng Chuan's cultivation would let him roam invincible. No one could stop him, whatever he chose to do.
His safety was all but assured. The greatest danger he might face was probably an accident caused by time itself as he traveled to the future.
Something occurred to Meng Chuan, and his smile grew brighter.
"Who knows? In the future I visit, you might already have surpassed me and become an Immortal Emperor, Great Emperor."
In the Sacred Ruins Era, Ruthless would be an Immortal Emperor at the very least. That would certainly put her beyond Meng Chuan's current level.
"It's a shame you might not know me in that future."
By rights, if this world followed its normal course, the Sacred Ruins Era should not even exist anymore.
