That connection would give him a measure of assurance that he could transcend the Great Dao in some unimaginably distant future.
At a crucial moment, it might be enough to awaken him.
After all, anything connected to Meng Chuan could serve as an anchor, holding fast his last tie to the mortal world.
It could also serve as a bridge between the two "worlds" of the Great Dao and Chaos, allowing the "dead" to return.
That measure of assurance was the foundation of Meng Chuan's decision to choose Dao Union.
Only with that small but indestructible assurance would Meng Chuan consider the matter further and lean toward Dao Union.
Then, on that foundation, he could make other preparations to improve his chances of transcending the Great Dao.
But those other preparations might fail with the passage of time.
