Meng Chuan put away the headless king's corpse and the broken Immortal King Battle Spear.
"Great Emperor, once I've purified the Dark Matter inside, I'll give them to you."
"It's a pity the Battle Spear broke, though."
Anger had clouded Meng Chuan's mind just then. He had thought of nothing but killing that Dark Immortal King, and he had held nothing back.
He had even crushed the spirit within the Immortal King's weapon, diminishing its value.
"Keep them," Ruthless said with a shake of her head. They were Meng Chuan's spoils.
"We've known each other for over a hundred thousand years. Why divide things so carefully?" Meng Chuan smiled, then muttered, "Though you're leaving things with me too, Great Emperor. I'm starting to feel like a walking storage artifact."
"Who else?" Ruthless asked seriously, catching that "too."
"Xiao Nannan!" Meng Chuan answered without thinking. Then he stiffened. Had he just given away that he'd been sneaking off to play with Xiao Nannan while Ruthless was away?
He was also looking after some shiny presents for Xiao Nannan. Would Ruthless think he had stolen a child's things?
And the child was the Dao Fruit that represented her own childhood.
Round it up, and wasn't that stealing from Ruthless herself...
Ruthless showed little reaction. Or rather, that was how she normally looked.
Meng Chuan couldn't tell whether she had reacted at all.
"Let's go," Ruthless said softly, looking out across the Boundary Sea.
"Where?"
"Back to the Dao Realm."
"You go ahead."
Ruthless paused and looked at him. "What are you going to do?"
"One king's life isn't enough," Meng Chuan said calmly. His eyes were closed, but Ruthless felt as though he were looking at her bloodstained white robes.
Ruthless studied his face. "You're still injured."
"It's nothing." Meng Chuan smiled.
