Lu Mingfei sensed familiar sights, familiar things, and the familiar... stink of dirty socks.
Lu Mingfei had returned to the Dragon Race World. He was at Cassell College, in his dorm room, on his bed. Time had gone from frozen to flowing again.
"Whew!"
Lu Mingfei threw off his blanket and looked around the dorm, his eyes bright.
"Ahhh!" Lu Mingfei suddenly howled.
"Ahhh!"
His roommate screamed too, rolled off the bed, and huddled on the floor clutching his blanket as if facing a mortal enemy.
"Has a Second-Generation Dragon attacked the college? Or is it a Dragon King Invasion? Junior Brother, hold them off while I run!"
Wrapped in his blanket, the man bolted out the door as though the dorm was haunted.
"Come back!"
Lu Mingfei was bewildered for an instant. Then his words became law, and he called Fingel straight back.
"No, Junior Brother, no! What have I done to deserve facing a Dragon King with you? Let me live! Then you'll have one more person burning offerings for you next year, Junior Brother!"
Fingel shrieked, but an invisible force dragged him back into the dorm. Then he realized—huh. There was nothing there.
Lu Mingfei jumped out of bed, grabbed his phone and a few other things, and hurried out.
"Why were you screaming like a ghost so early in the morning, Junior Brother?" Fingel complained at Lu Mingfei's retreating back.
"Emperor Ming Fei has come back to live another lifetime. Can't I celebrate?"
Lu Mingfei's voice lingered in the dorm, but he was already somewhere else.
"Junior Brother seems different after that nap."
Fingel scratched his head, though he couldn't put his finger on what had changed.
"Ah, you ruined a perfectly good dream, Junior Brother." Fingel sighed. He had been sleeping so soundly.
