Uchiha Yongye slammed the Gavel down. Only when the room fell silent did he speak coldly.
"Shisui."
"Are you willing to take full responsibility for what you just said?"
Shisui tilted his head slightly toward Yongye. White bandages covered his eyes, hiding his expression, but he bit down hard on his lip.
"I'll bear all the consequences myself!"
He spoke without hesitation, his voice ringing with conviction.
Yongye looked at him. The corner of his mouth slowly curled, his face full of disgust, as though he were looking at a pile of dog shit.
Upstairs.
Uchiha Fugaku stood in the corridor's shadows, arms crossed and back against the wall.
He had chosen his spot well. From there, he could see the entire hall below. Anyone looking up from the hall, though, would see only dim shadows, not his face.
Ever since Danzo had been beaten, Fugaku's brow had been knotted with worry.
He regretted giving Uchiha Yongye the position of Deputy Director.
He and the council of elders had originally intended for Uchiha Yongye to intimidate their enemies.
They wanted the people striking at the Uchiha from the shadows—the people who had dared gouge out Shisui's eyes in Konoha Hospital—to know the Uchiha were not to be trifled with, so they would not dare attack again.
But Uchiha Yongye was doing more than intimidating enemies. He was striking out at them and had offended almost everyone!
He had beaten Danzo to a pulp, arrested Kakashi and Hyuga Hiashi, and even threatened to interrogate their memories!
Shikaku Nara and Inoichi Yamanaka had nothing to do with the matter, yet Uchiha Yongye had backed them into a corner.
Not one of these people was easy to cross, and Uchiha Yongye had crossed them all at once.
This ran completely counter to
