Fugaku's Mangekyo Sharingan spun wildly in his pupils, faster and faster, until the patterns blurred together and their edges could no longer be distinguished.
But in the end, they slowly closed.
The hexagonal patterns vanished, and his eyes returned to their ordinary black. He lowered his head and stared at his feet, forcing the words from his throat.
"This really is the greatest humiliation you could inflict on me."
"You shouldn't have refused my wife's request."
"Especially when she's so beautiful."
Yongye threw back his head and laughed, every inch a true Uchiha!
It was as though every departed Uchiha who had ever resented Fugaku had possessed him at once!
"A request like that?"
"I've never heard anything like it in my life!"
"Fine. I won't refuse."
"As she wishes—and as you wish!"
Uchiha Yongye raised his right hand and spread his fingers, looking down at Sasuke.
The darkness on Sasuke's face had reached his temples. His lips had turned bluish-purple, his eyelids hung half-open, his pupils were unfocused, and the whites of his eyes were streaked with blood. Black-purple bruising had spread from the wound on his neck to his shoulder blades.
Yongye lifted his right hand, extended his index finger, and used Yin-Yang Release, touching the tip to Sasuke's forehead.
A gray-white light appeared.
It was neither dazzling nor hot, as still as a clump of solidified mist. Yet wherever it appeared, the surrounding air trembled faintly.
The light seeped from Yongye's fingertip into Sasuke's forehead, then spread downward between his brows, over his nose, past his lips and chin, and down his neck.
The spreading darkness stopped.
From his temples to his ears, from his collarbones to his chest, the poison froze wherever the gray-white light touched it, halting in place.
Sasuke's breathing grew somewhat steadier. His
