The Lasso of Truth's golden arc whipped through her hands into a dense web, lashing toward Ultron's limb joints from four directions at once. She meant to use the rope's flexibility to restrict the movements of his Vibranium body.
She had plenty of combat experience. Against enemies with defenses as formidable as the Fourth Raikage's or Vibranium Ultron's, restraining them with the Lasso of Truth first was the best approach.
If she was lucky, she might even get them to reveal a weakness.
But the instant the rope touched the Vibranium surface, a field of high-frequency energy repelled it. The golden lasso's tip veered through the air like rain blown sideways, skimming the edge of Ultron's shoulder armor without catching on a single vital joint.
Ultron turned his head. His glaring white eyes flickered beneath his faceplate. Then his right hand shot out, seized the middle of the Lasso of Truth, and yanked it sharply toward himself.
The brute force pulled Diana half a step forward. She planted her feet to steady herself, but the Vibranium body's advantage in strength was too great. Her soles gouged two deep furrows through the scorched earth, and she was still dragged toward Ultron.
Ultron raised his left hand from the other side and brought its edge down toward the gap in Diana's defenses where her neck met her shoulder.
She jerked her head aside. The chop swept past her ear with a dull crack, its sharp edge shearing off a stray lock of hair just below her right earlobe.
Diana released her grip on the Lasso of Truth and twisted half a turn sideways. She bent her knees to cushion her landing, crushed a brick embedded in the scorched earth beneath her foot, and retreated three steps.
