Hippolyta rose from her throne, her tall figure casting a long shadow through the shafts of light streaming from the temple dome's stained glass.
She descended the steps barefoot, her feet meeting the cool marble floor. Her stride was steady, each step carrying a queen's composure.
"I called you back because I need you to investigate someone."
Diana looked up, one eyebrow lifting slightly.
"Who?"
"Yongye."
The name fell into the temple's vast hall without raising the slightest echo, but Diana's pupils contracted almost imperceptibly.
She instinctively tightened her grip on the Lasso of Truth at her waist. The golden rope gave a faint hum beneath her fingers.
"Why do you want to investigate him?" Diana's voice dropped, her confusion now edged with suspicion.
It made sense for her to want to investigate Yongye.
She agreed with Batman. The Easterner who served as President of the Eye Society was domineering and overbearing. He treated Superheroes with condescending mockery, and his treatment of female heroes was even worse.
He was suffocatingly powerful, but his strength was not the problem. The problem was how he used it.
He was mercurial and vindictive. He treated the whole world as his playground and everyone in it as a piece on his chessboard.
A man like that was no Superhero. He had to be watched. They had to be on their guard.
If she could have beaten him, Diana would have acted long ago!
But Themyscira had withdrawn from worldly affairs long ago. The Amazons had lived on this isolated island for thousands of years, deliberately keeping their distance from the outside world's conflicts. For her mother to suddenly demand an investigation into Yongye was deeply unusual.
Hippolyta did not answer at once.
She walked to a stone window along the side of the temple
