Sunlight poured through the floor-to-ceiling windows, filling the President's office with light. Yongye sprawled in his swivel chair with his feet on the desk, scrolling through Twitter's trending topics on his phone.
“#FemaleThor” had held the top spot for three hours. The posts beneath it were all variations on “Natasha is so cool,” “I'm into Hammer Lady,” and “How rich is the Golden Armor God of War?”
Satisfied, he switched to the next page and opened the job posting they had published earlier on Eye Society's internal recruitment system.
“Position: Second Secretary to the President of the Eye Society.”
"Requirements: Young woman, presentable appearance, quick reflexes, ability to handle a demanding workload."
"Compensation: Negotiable, including special allowances."
He casually edited the posting, adding, "Applicants with special skills preferred."
Beside him, Sharon Carter crawled out from under the desk. She glanced at the posting on his screen, her brows knitting together.
“Mr. President, you already have me as your Secretary. Why hire a second one?”
Yongye didn't look up. His finger slid across the screen. "One isn't enough."
Sharon's mouth twitched. She knew exactly what he meant by “isn't enough.” Lately, she had spent almost every workday on her knees, and they were starting to give out.
“Then what exactly are you looking for in a second Secretary? None of the candidates we interviewed before appealed to you.”
Yongye finally looked up from his phone. After a moment's thought, he smiled as brightly as the afternoon sun outside over Manhattan.
"She should be able to fight, run, and take a hit. Some special skills would be nice. Most importantly, though, she has to be willing to go along with the same unspoken arrangements you do."
