Blood mist erupted from the World Eater's mouth and nose with that demon-like rasp. The narrow Webway stretched ahead, sinister and endless as the gaping maw of hell.

The chainaxe hummed in Karn's hand, but its sound was no longer smooth and well-oiled. It was harsh and grating, much like Karn himself, whose movements had grown stiff.

The World Eater had been fighting.

He had never stopped.

The armor on his left arm had long since been removed. Chains stained with blood and rust bound his heavily muscled limb as Karn walked slowly, conserving what strength he could.

Abaddon had committed an unforgivable sin.

Together with the blood-corrupted Alpha Legion, he had shown Karn a crude creation modeled after Angron, a hulking mass of muscle blessed by the Blood God—Karn could not describe how he had felt when he saw it.

As if to humiliate the World Eaters, the monster even had buzzing nails embedded in its skull.

All he knew was that, by the time he came to his senses, the World Eater ship he commanded had already crashed into Abaddon's vessel. He himself was drenched in blood, gripping his battleaxe, his vision scarlet.
