I still believed all this had been a dream.
Roboute Guilliman, Lord of the Imperium, spoke calmly. He blinked his azure eyes as the primarch sat behind his desk, as though he had just awoken from a brief nap.
Only his golden hair was slightly disheveled, and an oversized blanket hung over his legs.
This was not a dream.
The Pale Lord across from him spoke hoarsely. Mortarion's bone helm was covered in cracks, and his face seemed badly bruised as well.
Mist poured from the Pale Lord's gas mask. Guilliman glanced sideways and saw the poisonous vapors spraying over the stacked documents.
The good news was that Guilliman had protected those papers, so the Pale Lord's poison would not corrode them away. Instead, the words upon them would sting Mortarion's eyes.
Then,
Guilliman spread his hands.
I have no memory of arriving here—what happened after that dinner?
Mortarion across from him fell silent for a second. After that cautious silence, Mortarion stepped aside and made way for the Underking.

Hades scratched his head and looked at Guilliman, unsure how to describe what had happened last night.
After a brief bout of dizziness, the primarchs had gradually recovered from their inability to control their bodies. Guilliman, whose Psychic Power had grown the most, had been slowest to recover.
The Emperor had clearly not given up on winning the primarchs over. Hades had therefore been forced to witness a rather unsuccessful speech about family bonds—though Neos's speech had ultimately been interrupted.
Guilliman suddenly stood and refused Neos's offered support. The Lord of the Imperium looked righteous and resolute, as if he were about to charge into battle and die gloriously the next second.
Though his swaying steps revealed that the primarch had not yet regained his senses.
