The Underking Must Be Handed Over

A Little Interlude

"You're saying Trazyn the Infinite has seized at least several hundred minor dynasties and at least dozens of medium-sized dynasties?"

"You're saying Trazyn the Infinite not only did that, but his ally is a human Xenos?"

"You're saying Trazyn's Xenos ally is not only human, but also a C'tan freak pieced together from the remains of a C'tan?"

The Silent King let out a sharp burst of noise.

He was probably furious.

"Right there—there! Turn it another 27.9 degrees on the tri-axis!"

At the Imperial Palace observatory, Hades anxiously adjusted the gigantic telescope by hand. The instrument was extraordinarily precise, yet the Underking was controlling it manually. If the court Magos responsible for the place saw this, he would probably scream on the spot—but the one standing here now was the Underking.

I'm looking—found it! Found it!

The Underking's "naked eye" could pick out the Silent Eye, flickering improperly amid the stars, but Roboute Guilliman was somewhat inferior in this regard. Thus, the primarch had to bend over, close one eye, and observe a corner of the starry sky through the telescope.

Guilliman finally found the flickering star region in his vision. The instant his awareness settled upon it, he felt a Psychic Power resonance.

The sensation made him intensely uncomfortable. What unsettled Guilliman even more was the strange familiarity creeping up his spine like maggots clinging to bone, as though something within that flickering giant eye shared the same Psychic Power origin as his own.

Countless possibilities howled through the mind of the ruler of the Imperium, but after a brief silence, Guilliman chose the one he found most likely, based on all the intelligence gathered over the past few years.

Chaos... What was the Black Legion doing?
