325. A Little Unlucky
When Mortarion raised his eyes again, the war had already entered its final stages. Violent shockwaves battered his eyes until tears streamed down his face, while huge fragments of the starry sky fell below.
Massive sheets of light fell one after another from the surging river of radiance, exposing the murky darkness beneath, patterned with dim gold—as though a festering wound had somehow begun to heal.
Piece after piece, along the breach the Necrons had opened earlier, the C'tan was patiently smashed apart. Bright white liquid streamed out, every drop enough to scorch a massive blister across a planet.
And now, those lights were fading, falling and scattering in every direction. Mortarion widened his eyes, realizing that the Outsider had truly reached its limit—
Slender flesh-like roots extended from the Dark King's God Realm, piercing through the breach and spreading across the Outsider's pure-energy body. Fragments of light fell like rain.
Mortarion heard Guilliman shouting warnings. The primarch's voice was loud and clear, reaching every warrior's ears, yet within the storm it remained as insignificant as an insect's buzz. Those roaring, agonized Shards of the Star God were falling toward them, crazily determined to tear everything apart.
Mortarion moved. He gripped his scythe and reached toward Guilliman's position. What fell with the rain of light was not only the crazed Shards of the Star God, but also flesh and blood from the Black King—the Dark King's power torn away by the C'tan was falling toward them as well.

Mortarion raised a hand, his gaze resolute.
+I can suppress it. I'll
