Ch. 21Challenging Qin Ming
Key plot points and events
- Yu Tianheng combines his berserk-enhancing third Soul Skill with Thunder Dragon Claw, but Huo Linfei counters with Illusory Qilin Nebula Rift. Their attacks collide in a violent burst.
- When the dust clears, Yu Tianheng is badly battered, while Huo Linfei is largely unharmed. Yu admits defeat and acknowledges Huo’s strength.
- Qin Ming estimates that Huo’s fighting ability is at least comparable to an ordinary level-thirty-seven Soul Elder, and possibly enough to defeat one.
- Rather than end the challenge there, Huo asks Qin Ming to spar. Qin offers to suppress his power to level thirty-eight, but Huo asks him to fight above level forty, at Soul Ancestor level. Qin agrees, and they release their Martial Souls: Qin’s mutated Blazing Fire Wolf and Huo’s. The next match is about to begin.
Character developments and interactions
- Huo Linfei shows confidence, ambition, and respect: he credits Yu as his strongest opponent yet, then seeks a tougher test from Qin Ming.
- Yu Tianheng accepts defeat graciously, without resentment, and admires Huo.
- Qin Ming recognizes Huo’s unusual strength. He lets the students witness the result of the first fight themselves, then agrees to Huo’s daring challenge.
- Dugu Yan and Osler praise and tease Huo, prompting laughter; Ye Lingling stays quiet but watches him closely. The other students are impressed and unsettled by the gap between Huo and their team.
