Xiao Wu saw the two of them walking ahead and hurried after them.
"Wait for me! Where are you going? I'm coming too."
Xiao Wu felt deeply uneasy. Her instincts as a Soul Beast told her that the Jin Yang before her was no longer the person he had been.
Tang San was bound to stumble.
"Do you two really have to fight?" Xiao Wu asked softly, unable to hide her worry.
"Of course. There's bitter hatred between us now."
Jin Yang did not look back. He answered Xiao Wu's question calmly and in earnest.
"Do you think Tang San will let me go? No, he won't. I humiliated him and his teacher. I even drove a wedge between master and disciple.
"Right now, Tang San probably wishes he could kill me.
"If we weren't at the academy but somewhere outside, somewhere with no one around,
"he might already be eating my flesh raw to vent his hatred."
"N-no way. Tang San wouldn't do that, would you, Tang San?"
"How would you know what Tang San would do? Do you think he'd tell you?"
"Tang San, would you really kill him?" Xiao Wu looked at Tang San, embarrassed but curious. She wanted to know the answer too.
Sure enough, Tang San did not disappoint Jin Yang.
"..." Tang San fell silent.
His silence was answer enough.
Given the chance, Tang San would do something even crueler.
Jin Yang is the one who humiliated me.
And Jin Yang is the one who understands me.
Tang San suddenly had a feeling.
Jin Yang seemed to know him particularly well, as though they had known each other for years.
Even the darkest thoughts and schemes buried deepest in Tang San's heart seemed perfectly clear to him.
This boy absolutely cannot be allowed to live.
Tang San's desire to kill Jin Yang grew stronger and stronger.
But for now, he had to endure.
He could not do it at Nuoding Academy, much less expose himself.
He was only a six-year-old student.
If people discovered that he had killed another child over a quarrel, his shining reputation would collapse.
They would call him a Trash Martial Soul brat, evil from birth and born to hold grudges.
Jin Yang had beaten him, but that was still an ordinary dispute. Even if Jin Yang had insulted Tang San and his teacher Yu Xiaogang in public, causing master and disciple to fall out,
that still would not justify one six-year-old killing another.
"All right, here we are."
An open space behind the academy.
Jin Yang surveyed the area. The air was fresh, no one was around this early in the morning, and the ground was spacious and free of clutter. Perfect for putting Tang San through his paces.
Jin Yang turned to Tang San. "Ready? Here I come!"
Without waiting for an answer, Jin Yang lunged forward at astonishing speed. Golden light shimmered over his arms, and in the blink of an eye, his fist was already before Tang San's face.
Tang San did not dare take the attack lightly. He hurriedly dodged to the side, but Jin Yang twisted at the waist and spun through the air, whipping his right leg hard into Tang San's Mysterious Jade Hand.
Thud! Tang San staggered four steps back from the kick.
Both his arms went numb.
So strong!
What incredible force!
Tang San was startled. He had not expected Jin Yang to be this strong. Had Jin Yang not used his full strength when he beat him that day?
Not daring to delay, Tang San immediately used his First Soul Skill: Blue Silver Grass Entanglement.
Several vine-like strands of Blue Silver Grass burst from his hand and shot toward Jin Yang. Unfortunately, they were still too slow. Jin Yang avoided them with little effort.
"Damn it!" Tang San cursed under his breath. His face twisted when he failed to catch Jin Yang.
I've worked so hard. Why is it still not enough?
Tang San refused to accept it.
He tried again to bring his Blue Silver Grass into contact with Jin Yang.
If it so much as touched Jin Yang, he could inject the Mandala Snake's venom into his body.
Then Jin Yang would be at his mercy.
But Jin Yang seemed to have seen through the poison. He kept dodging the Blue Silver Grass, giving Tang San no chance at all.
"Jin Yang, is dodging all you can do? Fight me head-on if you've got the guts! You called me trash? You're not much better. Last time, you just got lucky."
Tang San shouted as though enraged, but his heart was as still as a pool of water. He was trying to provoke Jin Yang.
Jin Yang snorted. "Tang San, it looks like Yu Xiaogang really has taught you to be useless.
"You haven't got a shred of ability now. You were born with level-ten Soul Power, yet you can't do a thing to me when I was born with only level two and a half.
"You and your teacher are a pair of supreme masters: the supreme master of uselessness and the supreme master of plagiarism."
"You're lying! My teacher didn't plagiarize anything. You just don't understand the knowledge in his head, so you dismiss it out of malice." Yu Xiaogang truly was quite useless, but Tang San did not believe he had stolen anyone else's research.
Tang San held Yu Xiaogang's learning in high regard.
Jin Yang really had made him a little angry.
Tang San stopped channeling Soul Power into his Soul Ring. Instead, he seized the Blue Silver Grass vines and decided to fight Jin Yang up close.
As long as the vines struck Jin Yang's body, Tang San could still inject venom through them.
"So you want to fight up close, and you've brought a weapon? Fine. I'll take you on to the end, Tang San. You're going to lose."
Jin Yang raised his hand, and his Martial Soul, Sunflower, appeared.
When Tang San's vines lashed toward him, Jin Yang pulled the Sunflower's enormous flower head in front of himself.
Thump!
The impact sounded like two pieces of wood knocking together: dull, yet with a dampness that betrayed how much moisture they held.
The Sunflower's flower head remained unscathed. Tang San was still too weak to break through his Martial Soul's defense.
As a neurotoxin that affected animals, the Mandala Snake's venom naturally had no effect on plants.
Jin Yang bent down and gripped the Sunflower by its stalk, swinging it like a long-handled hammer.
He charged forward like a soldier leading the assault, his momentum surging like a rainbow across the sky.
Golden light shone over both his arms as Jin Yang put all his strength into smashing the Sunflower's head toward Tang San's chest.
Soft vines against a solid flower head.
There could be no doubt about the outcome.
"Mysterious Jade Hand, Controlling Crane Capturing Dragon!"
Before Tang San's Blue Silver Grass vines could wrap around Jin Yang's neck,
the millstone-sized flower head sent Tang San flying.
Tang San sailed through the air before crashing to the ground, plowing a deep furrow through the Blue Silver Grass beneath him.
The back of his shirt and his trousers were smeared with juice squeezed from the crushed grass.
He looked utterly bedraggled.
Fortunately, Tang San had not lost consciousness.
The Blue Silver Grass had cushioned his fall and absorbed most of the impact.
Even so, Tang San felt as though several ribs in his chest had broken.
Searing pain spread from his chest through every part of his body.
"Tang San!" Xiao Wu rushed over and helped him up.
"Cough, cough... Why are you so strong?"
After a violent coughing fit, Tang San stared at Jin Yang, his pupils trembling with shock and doubt.
"No human child could have that kind of strength!"
Jin Yang shook his head, turned, and walked away.
"You're just afraid," he said with a faint smile. "That's all."
