• After the First Soul Ring, it stands taller than young Jin Yang, with sturdier roots, stem, leaves and petals 6.
• By Jin Yang’s graduation, it stands three meters tall with a flower head roughly one and a half meters across, Light-element petals, glowing eyes and root-like legs 17.

Sunlight Production

Sunflower produces edible spheres of sunlight that restore Soul Power, stave off hunger and gradually strengthen the consumer’s body 1.

• Jin Yang’s regular consumption increases his strength, stamina and cultivation gains 1.
• After Sunflower absorbs its First Soul Ring, its sunlight becomes more potent and again has a strong effect on Jin Yang’s physique 6.

Nectar Production

Feeding Sunflower two portions of its sunlight at once produces sweet, golden nectar 1.

• The nectar benefits Jin Yang’s meditation practice more than sunlight does 1.
• Obtaining it requires him to place the sunlight into Sunflower’s mouth, a sight that unnerves his dormmates 1.

First Soul Skill: Soul Ring Age Increase

“Sunflower sprouts, higher by the node!” temporarily increases the age of Jin Yang’s or another person’s Soul Ring; part of the increase can remain permanently 6 7 21.

• Jin Yang’s first test adds roughly 550 years temporarily to his First Soul Ring, with an estimated five years retained 7.
• He later raises his own first two rings to thousand-year rings 21.
• One use raises Jiang Yan’s ninety-year ring to six hundred years temporarily; it settles permanently at one hundred years 21.

Second Soul Skill: Physical Boost

Sunflower summons smaller sunflowers to sing, increasing nearby allies’ strength, speed and recovery by thirty percent 17.

• The effect lasts five minutes and cannot stack 17.

Third Soul Skill: Group Healing

Sunflower gains healing power by swallowing sunlight and can heal a group, though the amount healed is limited 17.

Physical Combat

Sunflower’s growing size and toughness let Jin Yang use it directly in a fight 14 17.

• Its flower head blocks Tang San’s vines and can be swung like a long-handled hammer 14.
• Tang San’s Mandala Snake venom, which targets animals, has no effect on the plant 14.
• By Jin Yang’s graduation, its bite can tear a section from a tree trunk, and its root-like legs can carry him. Its leaves provide a seat but cannot lift them both into flight 17.

• Jin Yang — Sunflower’s wielder. He cultivates through its sunlight and nectar, strengthens its Soul Rings, and uses it for both support and combat 1 14 21.
• Jiang Yan — Jin Yang’s roommate and a beneficiary of Sunflower’s First Soul Skill, which permanently improves his First Soul Ring from ninety to one hundred years 21.
• Tang San — Jin Yang’s rival. Sunflower shields Jin Yang from his vines and is used to strike him during a fight 14.
