Background / History

Qian Daoliu formerly served as Spirit Hall’s Adjudication Elder, acting decisively and ruthlessly against outsiders who threatened the organization. By the time the Sky Screen appears, he has remained out of public view for years, residing in the Worship Hall with the six other Enshrined. He regards Spirit Hall as the Qian Family’s ten-thousand-year legacy and considers its preservation a duty to his ancestors 2 5 9.

He married to continue the Qian Family bloodline, but felt little affection for his wife. Bo Saixi’s grace and strength genuinely moved him, although she did not reciprocate his feelings. His relationship with Tang Chen combined friendship and rivalry; out of regard for Tang Chen, he repeatedly spared the Clear Sky Sect during earlier conflicts 6 16.

Qian Renxue remembers eating with Qian Daoliu and Qian Xunji before entering Heaven Dou’s imperial palace at nine years old. After her failed palace coup and disappearance into a Void Rift, Qian Daoliu’s concern for her brings him out of seclusion and drives his campaign against Tang San 9 17.

Foretold Sacrifice

  • Original future: Qian Daoliu sacrifices his life to draw Angel Divine Power from the Angel Temple and open Qian Renxue’s Ninth Angel Trial. He hopes her ascension will allow her to correct Spirit Hall’s course 19.
  • Possible alternative: Xiao Ran explains that the sacrifice could be avoided if Qian Renxue became strong enough to locate and enter the Divine Realm through her divine seed 19.
  • Present response: Qian Daoliu accepts the prospect of dying for her ascension without regret, but resolves to eliminate the dangers that would later cost her godhood 19.

Personality

Qian Daoliu’s stern authority gives way to tenderness when his granddaughter is distressed. Rather than leave Spirit Hall’s survival entirely to her, he decides to shoulder the responsibility himself and remove its enemies before she becomes the Angel God. His protectiveness also extends to angrily objecting to Xiao Ran’s physical closeness with her on the Sky Screen 6 9 19.

His restraint is selective. He acknowledges that the Nation-Stealing Plan’s treatment of Emperor Xue Ye was dishonorable and avoids a massacre in Heaven Dou’s capital because it would damage Spirit Hall’s reputation. Nevertheless, he orders the Clear Sky Sect’s extermination and later plans to leave the war against the two empires to Bibi Dong so that she bears the blame for its bloodshed 11 12 16.

The Sky Screen weakens his faith in honor and fair competition. He refuses Tang San’s proposed equal-strength duel, prioritizes his family over his old feelings for Bo Saixi, and questions whether the corrupt Divine Realm deserves Qian Renxue after learning how other gods interfered with her inheritance 14 16 21.

Abilities & Skills

Six-Winged Angel Martial Soul

His Martial Soul manifests as a radiant golden Six-Winged Angel accompanied by nine Soul Rings 11.

  • Releases overwhelming Soul Power pressure when summoned 11.
  • Provides three pairs of wings for exceptionally fast aerial movement 15.
  • Places him among the Soul Master World’s “two towering peaks,” alongside Tang Chen 14.
  • His Angel Divine Power cannot reach the Sky Screen 2.

Angel Domain

A god-level domain whose sacred flames and purifying power are especially effective against dark attributes 14 15 16.

  • Suppresses Bone Douluo’s dark powers so severely that he must shelter behind Sword Douluo to bring out even half his strength 15.
  • Traps Bone Douluo and burns his shattered body to ash 15.
  • Can be partially resisted by Sword Douluo’s Seven Kill Domain 14.
  • Meets Bo Saixi’s Sea God Domain in a deadlock; neither Peerless Douluo wins their ensuing battle 16.

Sword of Judgment

His Fifth Soul Skill gathers sacred flames into a golden longsword 15.

  • Used to strike and severely wound Chen Xin 15.
  • Raised for a killing blow against Tang San before Bo Saixi intervenes 16.
  • Channels the Angel Domain’s sacred flames into fiery sword energy 15.

Angel Wheel Slash

An attack powerful enough to break Sword Douluo and Bone Douluo’s combined technique 15.

  • Shatters All Bones’ End, Heaven and Earth as One Breath 15.
  • Inflicts severe backlash on both participants in the Martial Soul Fusion Skill 15.

Aerial Speed and Spatial Movement

He is described as “unmatched in the skies” and “the fastest under heaven” 15.

  • Tears open space and steps through a rift to intercept Tang San’s traveling party 14.
  • Evades more than ten thousand Seven Kill Swords without damaging his robes 15.
  • Quickly catches Tang San’s group despite their Flying Mushroom Sausages and Ning Rongrong’s speed boost 16.

Command and Strategy

Qian Daoliu directs the Worship Hall’s elite fighters and the flying Soul Masters of the Angel Legion 9.

  • Identifies Tang San—not the opposing empires or sects—as Spirit Hall’s decisive future threat 9.
  • Infers Tang San’s escape route from Sword Douluo and Bone Douluo’s absence beside Ning Fengzhi 12.
  • Redirects his forces from Heaven Dou’s replaceable soldiers toward the Clear Sky Sect’s high-ranking fighters 12.
  • Orders captured Clear Sky Sect Soul Bones distributed among the Enshrined to prepare them for future battles 23.

Relationships

  • Qian Renxue — Granddaughter and his foremost personal concern. Her grief over his predicted sacrifice moves him, while threats to her godhood drive his preemptive attacks 6 19.
  • Qian Xunji — Family member and Qian Renxue’s father; shared family meals with Qian Daoliu and Renxue during her childhood 3 17.
  • Bibi Dong — Spirit Hall’s pope and Qian Renxue’s mother. Their relationship is hostile: he blames her for information reaching Yu Xiaogang, while she resents his refusal to commit the Worship Hall and Angel Legion to her Soul Hunting Plan 9.
  • Golden Crocodile and the other Enshrined — Subordinates who share his commitment to Spirit Hall. He entrusts them with destroying the Clear Sky Sect and strengthening themselves against their predicted enemies 9 12 23.
  • Tang Chen — Former friend and rival. Their old connection once protected the Clear Sky Sect, but Qian Daoliu abandons that restraint after learning of the sect’s role in Spirit Hall’s future destruction 6 12.
  • Bo Saixi — Former object of his affection, later an opponent. Her protection of Tang San leads him to sever their personal bond and threaten Sea God Island 16.
  • Tang San — Principal enemy. Qian Daoliu hunts him to prevent Spirit Hall’s destruction and Qian Renxue’s loss of divinity 5 14.
  • Chen Xin and Gu Rong — Opponents killed while protecting Tang San. Chen Xin also identifies Qian Daoliu as his father’s killer 15.
  • Yu Xiaogang — Stripped of his Spirit Hall Elder Token and expelled after trying to obstruct Tang San’s capture 11 12.
  • Xiao Ran — Source of the future knowledge that reshapes his decisions. Qian Daoliu takes his revelations seriously but objects to his intimacy with Qian Renxue 5 19.
