Gu Yue spoke with a trace of resolve in her voice.
Li Qingxun looked a little puzzled as he listened, but he nodded. "As long as you get the spirit herbs, leave the rest to me. I can handle any other problems."
"These things might be difficult for you, but they're nothing much to me."
Li Qingxun smiled at Gu Yue, then glanced curiously toward the window. "This is the third floor, isn't it? Can you still climb out?"
"If you use the front door, won't that be awkward? Someone might see you and start snickering."
As he spoke, Li Qingxun looked toward the door.
Gu Yue glanced at him.
After a moment of silence, she looked out the window.
It was three floors down. Gu Yue could control the Wind Element, but at her current level of strength, a leap from this height would still injure her.
Unless she grew stronger and deepened her control over the Wind Element, that was.
In her present state, having started her cultivation over, getting down safely seemed difficult.
Gu Yue felt a little helpless at the thought.
She did not even know why she had climbed up three floors to come straight here.
Still, she quietly followed her instincts. Rather than climb back out the window, she headed for the door.
The door creaked open. Gu Yue had barely taken two steps outside
when she saw Xie Xie and Tang Wulin returning side by side.
Both stared at her, disbelief filling their eyes.
Neither had expected to find Gu Yue here, inside the boys' dormitory.
And in the room of their class's new student, no less.
Gu Yue saw the shock in their eyes. She gave them a calm glance, then walked past them with a certain stiffness.
She passed the two of them without even saying hello. Tang Wulin opened his mouth, confusion flashing through his eyes before an awful feeling settled over him.
Before, whenever Gu Yue saw him, she had eyes for almost no one else. He had always come first.
This time, though, she had looked right through him. Not only had she ignored him,
she had walked straight past.
It hurt. Only after Gu Yue had gone did Xie Xie turn slightly toward Li Qingxun, who was still standing in his doorway.
Xie Xie opened his mouth as if to say something.
But when Li Qingxun saw him look over, he calmly shut the door.
With the door closed, only Tang Wulin and Xie Xie remained.
They stood outside their own room, both wearing complicated expressions.
"Boss, what was that about? Why did Gu Yue ignore you?"
"That's not right." Hesitation edged Xie Xie's voice.
Tang Wulin only lowered his head slightly.
Embarrassment flashed through his eyes, but beneath it lay far more complicated feelings.
He did not understand what had gotten into Gu Yue today. But the thought of her coming out of another man's room left him miserable.
Still, with Xie Xie beside him, he forced those feelings down and managed a smile.
"Qingxun probably needed to discuss something with her. Come on, let's go back to our room."
Tang Wulin quietly opened their door, and the two went inside.
Li Qingxun, meanwhile, looked a little bemused.
Still, he remained calm. Tang Wulin had seen them, so what? It was not as if he could do anything to Li Qingxun.
As a textbook upright hero, Tang Wulin had his principles, even if the sight had made him uncomfortable.
His sound state of mind and way of thinking would keep him from attacking. And even if he did, Li Qingxun would not care.
With a Martial Soul as formidable as the Heavenly Snow Woman, almost no Soul Master at his level could contend with him.
Even Tang Wulin, with his Golden Dragon King Bloodline, could not beat him now.
A gentle night breeze drifted past as Li Qingxun lay on his bed, weariness on his face.
He wanted to practice Alchemy, but he had no ingredients at present.
All he could do was consume the Pills he already had and wait for his Divine Kingdom to awaken.
Then he could use his Divine Kingdom to see whether he could refine Pills.
After all, he would be able to simulate everything within his Divine Kingdom himself. He could create the most advanced Alchemy apparatus imaginable.
He had done just that in his previous life, using Fantasy Power to create an Alchemy Furnace that had never existed.
Then he could combine it with the Alchemy Furnace he had previously imagined into his Storage Ring.
Once the two furnaces merged, his Alchemy skills would improve tremendously.
Still thinking about it, Li Qingxun did something rare: he lay down and fell straight asleep.
Night passed. Soft sunlight spilled into the room. At seven in the morning, Li Qingxun opened his eyes.
He had just finished washing up when someone began pounding on the door.
The knocks came fast and hard. Li Qingxun froze for a moment.
Thinking it was Tang Wulin, he ignored them.
Less than five seconds later, someone kicked the door open.
Li Qingxun stood by the washroom entrance, staring at the broken door.
His gaze turned cold as he looked toward the doorway, then sharpened.
A group of young men in fine armor stood there.
They held Soul Guidance Ray Guns and stared straight at Li Qingxun.
They had not raised their weapons, but every one of them bore an embroidered "Tang" emblem on his chest.
This was the Tang Sect's Enforcement Corps.
The Tang Sect's Enforcement Corps served a purpose much like its Soul Fighting Hall. The Soul Fighting Hall generally punished powerful Soul Masters, while the Enforcement Corps handled ordinary cases.
Cases the City Police could not handle were usually passed to the local War God Temple or one of its branches.
Sometimes, though, the War God Temple was too busy or could not spare the personnel.
In those cases, it borrowed people from the Tang Sect and had its Enforcement Organization resolve the matter.
But the sudden appearance of Tang Sect enforcers had genuinely startled Li Qingxun.
People said an honest man need not fear a ghost knocking at his door. Yet he had cleaned out the Tang Sect only yesterday. He had not done it himself, but he had created Toji Fushiguro.
And now the Tang Sect was here. As soon as they saw him, the enforcers at the front raised their guns and aimed at him.
Killing intent flashed through Li Qingxun's eyes. "Who are you?"
"I don't know you. Why did you break into my room?"
His brows drew tighter as he spoke.
The two young men at the front kept their Soul Tool Guns trained on him.
They stared coldly at him. Then the one on the left spoke.
"Hands up. Don't move, don't release your Martial Soul, and don't try anything else. Resist, and we'll kill you on the spot."
His voice was icy. He was plainly in a foul mood, and Li Qingxun had landed right in his line of fire.
Even so, Li Qingxun did not move.
He fixed the Tang Sect enforcer with an unblinking stare, still wondering how they had found him.
