We're Together Now, Freshman Assessment Finals (Please Vote and Keep Reading)

Ling Luochеn and Jiang Chen spun around and found themselves face-to-face with several Inner Court students. Awkwardness hit them at once.

The humiliation was on par with taking a dump in public.

Ling Luochеn silently lowered her head, her cheeks redder than apples.

Getting caught by her senior sister on an occasion like this was so embarrassing.

Jiang Chen cared less, though he still felt a little awkward.

Zhang Lexuan planted her hands on her hips and said, looking somewhat embarrassed herself, "Luochen, I know you and Jiang Chen have feelings for each other, but this is the academy gate. What if someone sees you? Besides, you haven't made your relationship official yet, have you? Think how bad it would sound if word got out. Xiaotao would have to explain it for you."

She felt rather sorry for Ma Xiaotao, so she stepped forward to scold Ling Luochеn.

Jiang Chen, however, was displeased. Hearing the implication in her words, he shot back, "Senior Sister, this isn't some stain on anyone's reputation. Luochen and I have known each other for a long time, and I've already made it clear that there's nothing between Ma Xiaotao and me. If you have a problem with that, you can talk to Ma Xiaotao."

"And Luochen and I are already together. I was just about to tell everyone so you wouldn't get the wrong idea."

Ling Luochеn nodded faintly. "Yes. We're together now."

At those words, Zhang Lexuan and the Inner Court students present felt their heads buzzing.

They really were dating—and it had happened so fast.

Poor Ma Xiaotao had missed her chance with Jiang Chen, and Ling Luochеn had won him over.

At that thought, the female students close to Ling Luochеn offered their congratulations, while the male students' faces fell.

Why were the men unhappy? Though Ling Luochеn was cool and aloof, she was one of the Inner Court's rare hidden gems. There were hardly any rumors about her, and she never spent time with male students.

But now that beautiful white lotus had been plucked. Of course they were unhappy.

Zhang Lexuan sighed, then put on a stern face. "Jiang Chen, even if you two are together now, doing that at the academy gate sets a bad example. As your senior sister, I have to scold you. Don't do it again."

Jiang Chen replied, "All right. I'll do it secretly in the dorm."

Ling Luochеn's pretty face turned even redder.

Zhang Lexuan's brows shot up. This brat was quite cheeky.

Forget it... Better not interrupt the young couple's date.

The group then prepared to leave without asking Ling Luochеn to come along.

Among them, Dai Yueheng gave Jiang Chen a meaningful look. A gentle smile rested on his face, but he had already committed Jiang Chen to memory.

So this was the one who'd beaten his younger brother half to death?

And now he'd stolen the woman I'd already chosen for myself. He truly had a death wish.

But... now wasn't the time to act. Once Jiang Chen entered the Inner Court, there would be a proper way to challenge him—and avenge Huabin while I was at it.

Just then,

Jiang Chen noticed Dai Yueheng's meaningful smile. "You're not thinking of attacking me, are you?"

Dai Yueheng smiled. "Huabin lost because he wasn't good enough. As his older brother, I can still tell right from wrong. I look forward to seeing you enter the Inner Court. Then I'll challenge you and see how strong a Martial Soul with an Ultimate Attribute really is."

Jiang Chen smiled. "We'll meet again soon enough."

With that, the groups went their separate ways.

Ling Luochеn said worriedly, "Dai Yueheng hides his thoughts well. Be careful. He'll never let what happened to Dai Huabin go."

"I know," Jiang Chen said.

"What's done is done. Let's cultivate first. I have time tonight, so I can help you strengthen your Ice Martial Soul properly."

Ling Luochеn started. "Outdoors?"

"Then let's go to my dorm," Jiang Chen said.

Ling Luochеn quietly lowered her head. "Outside is better. There are too many people in your dorm, and I have something to do tomorrow. I'll have to leave before dawn."

Jiang Chen nodded, but something about her words felt off.

Were they even talking about cultivation anymore?

The dorm, the outdoors, leaving before dawn...

This wasn't a pleasure house.

What's done is done. Cultivation first!

In the blink of an eye, the next morning arrived.

Ling Luochеn had left early.

Jiang Chen had returned to his dorm before dawn and caught a short nap. Once daylight had fully broken, he headed to the assessment area.

Today was his final match.

Unless Huo Yuhao pulled some outrageous stunt or unleashed the power of fate, Jiang Chen probably wouldn't lose.

Meanwhile, in the assessment area,

the Elders had arrived early and were waiting for the final match.

Jiang Chen winning the championship seemed all but certain, but Huo Yuhao's team was too uncanny. An upset might actually happen.

Elsewhere, after a night spent planning their tactics, Huo Yuhao, Wang Dong, and Xiao Xiao finally faced the most important moment of their lives.

They were just one step away from the championship.

Beat Jiang Chen and claim the title!

No one had believed in them, yet they had made it to the end.

Huo Yuhao looked at Wang Dong and Xiao Xiao. "Win or lose, we have to give this everything so we don't leave ourselves with regrets. We'll follow the plan we worked out. Are we all ready?"

Wang Dong said with a serious expression, "Yuhao, I won't let you down. We're the champions!"

Xiao Xiao clenched her fists too. "Right! The championship is ours."

Huo Yuhao took a deep breath, his gaze firmer than ever.

Mom, can you see me? I've taken the first step toward revenge. I'll become stronger. I promise.

Then he said to the Sky Dream Ice Silkworm, "Brother Sky Dream, I want to win this fight."

Tian Meng hesitated. "Then I'll have to reveal your Ice Martial Soul ahead of time. I'll take control of your body and defeat Jiang Chen at the crucial moment."

Huo Yuhao felt much more at ease. "Can the Ice Empress help Jiang Chen?"

"She can," Tian Meng said. "But Jiang Chen's too proud to let her. That's my chance. If we seize it, we can turn the tables."

"Once we take Jiang Chen down, we win."

Hearing that, Huo Yuhao's gaze hardened.

This was the closest he had ever been to the championship. He had to take it, even if it meant cheating!

Before long,

Jiang Chen's team and Huo Yuhao's team entered the arena. As promised, teaching director Du Weіlun arrived to preside over the final match.

"After discussion, the Elders have decided that you may fight without holding back in the final," Du Weilun instructed them. "But you may not deliberately kill anyone. I'll intervene if necessary. Understood?"

Huo Yuhao nodded. "Understood."

"Understood," Jiang Chen said.

Du Weilun gave a satisfied nod, then shouted, "Let the final begin!"

Huo Yuhao's eyes lit up. His white First Soul Ring flared, and he immediately used Spiritual Detection and Spiritual Sharing on Wang Dong and Xiao Xiao. A three-dimensional map of the entire arena appeared in their minds.

Wang Dong's Light Goddess Butterfly Martial Soul possessed her. She flew straight into the air and launched her Wing Guillotine.

Xiao Xiao hurled the Three-Life Soul-Suppressing Cauldron forward and unleashed Cauldron's Tremor.

On the other side, Wu Feng breathed searing Dragon's Fire to fend off Xiao Xiao's attack. Ning Tian seized the opening and immediately boosted Jiang Chen's strength and speed.

Wang Dong was already bearing down on him from above. Jiang Chen raised a hand, and his torso bone began to glow. He said slowly:

"Ice Jade Emperor Scorpion torso bone skill: Phoenix Domain."
