Ning Rongrong's eyes lit up. "Wow, what a beautiful house! Brother Qin, is this a student dormitory too?"
"Oh, this? It's where Xiao Wu and I live."
Ning Rongrong gave Qin Muchu a meaningful look. "Does the academy let students build their own dormitories? I want to build one too. How about right next to yours?"
"Uh, I'm not sure that's a good idea. Even if the dean allowed construction, who knows how many years it would take to finish? It would take ages and get in the way of your studies."
Ning Rongrong plainly didn't believe him. "Then where did your building come from? Don't tell me it grew out of the ground."
"It's my Architectural Soul Tool. It's ready-made. I just take it out and set it on the ground. No construction needed."
"An Architectural Soul Tool? There's such a kind of Soul Tool? Strange. How come I've never heard of one?" As the Little Princess of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, she might not have seen every ordinary item, but she certainly knew the high-end ones, especially luxuries. Yet she had never heard of an Architectural Soul Tool.
"Do you have any rooms left inside? I could pay you rent. Or do you have another Soul Tool like it? I could buy one." Longing filled Ning Rongrong's face.
"There aren't any rooms left. If you want to buy one, though, it's one million Gold Soul Coins." Qin Muchu held out his hand.
"What? One million Gold Soul Coins? Why don't you just rob me?" Ning Rongrong cried. Zhu Zhuqing stared at Qin Muchu in shock, then glanced at the Little House, as though she couldn't believe such a small building could be worth a million Gold Soul Coins either.
"One million Gold Soul Coins is way too expensive," Ning Rongrong muttered.
"If you think it's expensive, that's your problem, not the house's. That's what it costs to make." Qin Muchu spread his hands.
"You're awful." Ning Rongrong glared at Qin Muchu through gritted teeth. She had never imagined that anyone would look down on her for lacking money. She wanted to wave a hand and buy the Soul Tool on the spot, but a million was no small sum. She could scrape it together if she gritted her teeth, but then she would have almost nothing left. She had sneaked out in the first place. She couldn't go asking her father for money the moment she left home. That would be spineless.
Qin Muchu had only been talking. He hadn't truly intended to ask Ning Rongrong for money. She was only twelve, after all. A million Gold Soul Coins was a hundred million Copper Soul Coins—the equivalent of a small fortune in his previous life. No matter how carefree Ning Fengzhi was, he wouldn't let Ning Rongrong run around carrying that much money.
Besides, Qin Muchu might well need her help someday. He might as well do her a favor now and give her one. It was only a little over five hours of the system's output.
So while Ning Rongrong was still struggling with the decision, she heard Qin Muchu say, "Forget it. We're classmates now, so I'll give you and Zhu Zhuqing one each." With that, he bought one from the system and held it out to Ning Rongrong. After a moment's thought, he bought another. Since he was already giving one away, what was another million? He might as well give Dai Mubai and the other two one too.
As for the academy's teachers, he had no plans to give them any. Surely a bunch of old men would be too embarrassed to ask a child for things.
Ning Rongrong looked at the exquisite little house in Qin Muchu's hand and grew a little embarrassed. "I can't accept this. It's too valuable..."
"Just take it. If you get the chance, introduce me to Sect Master Ning someday." Without waiting for an answer, Qin Muchu pressed the Soul Tool into Ning Rongrong's hand.
Ning Rongrong still hesitated. Her father was the master of the second-ranked sect, but an introduction alone wasn't worth this much. "We're classmates. If you want to meet my dad, I can introduce you someday. You don't need to give me such a valuable Soul Tool."
Qin Muchu sighed helplessly. The girl had principles. He took out the other Soul Tool and set it beside his own house. "Look, I'm not just giving one to you. I'm giving one to the other three as well, so you don't need to refuse."
"All right." Only then did Ning Rongrong accept it. She looked at Qin Muchu, a strange light flashing through her eyes, before happily running over to set up her own little house on the other side. Qin Muchu's house was now sandwiched between the two.
Just then, the door to Qin Muchu's house opened. Xiao Wu came out rubbing her bleary eyes. In a soft, sleepy voice, she said, "Oh no, I overslept. Has enrollment already finished? Little Chu, did you... Huh? Why are there two more houses next to ours?"
She hopped over and poked her head into the room. Hearing her voice, Ning Rongrong and Zhu Zhuqing came out too. The three girls stared at one another.
As if something had occurred to her, Xiao Wu turned to Qin Muchu. "Are they the new students? Which one is Ning Rongrong?"
Qin Muchu's eyes went wide. Whoa. Could she really ask that outright?
He turned to Ning Rongrong. Sure enough, she was frowning. "What do you mean? You already knew I was coming?"
Realizing she had said the wrong thing, Xiao Wu stuck out her tongue and hurriedly explained, "Oh, I just meant you look like new students. When I woke up, I vaguely heard Little Chu say your name, so I asked."
"Is that so?" Ning Rongrong eyed her suspiciously.
"Of course!" Xiao Wu walked up to Ning Rongrong and held out her hand. "Hi, I'm Xiao Wu. The Wu means 'dance.'"
Ning Rongrong hesitated, then reached out and shook Xiao Wu's hand. "Hello. I'm Ning Rongrong."
She studied the girl before her curiously. So this is Xiao Wu, the one with more talent than Oscar? I wonder what level she is. She's so cute, especially those rabbit ears on her head. I kind of want to touch them.
Qin Muchu came over and gestured toward Zhu Zhuqing. "Xiao Wu, this is Zhu Zhuqing."
Xiao Wu's gaze swept over Zhu Zhuqing and lingered on her chest for a few seconds. A flicker of envy crossed her face at Zhu Zhuqing's curves. "Hello, Zhu Zhuqing."
"Hello."
Xiao Wu looked from side to side. "Little Chu, why did you bring out two more houses?"
Qin Muchu pointed to Ning Rongrong and Zhu Zhuqing. "These two aren't used to living in those shabby little rooms, so I gave them one. Then I figured if I was giving away one, I might as well give away two and let Mubai and the others have one too."
"Oh, how generous of you." Xiao Wu rolled her eyes at Qin Muchu, looking every bit the keeper of the household purse.
After that, Qin Muchu and Xiao Wu took the two girls to the cafeteria. "This is the school cafeteria. It serves three meals a day, and it's not expensive. Of course, you can't expect anything too fancy. The school's funds are limited."
"There's a village behind the school. Everyone there is an ordinary civilian, and students generally aren't allowed to disturb their lives."
"That's everything there is to see at the school for now. There's nothing else today. Meet on the training ground at eight tomorrow morning. You'll see all the students and teachers then, and the dean will be there too."
