"Bashu Tang Sect outer disciple Tang San greets her fellow disciple and senior brother!"
Tang Sanmei clasped her fists and bowed her head deeply. Her voice trembled with reverence.
"May I ask which branch of the Tang Sect you belong to, Senior Brother? Are you an inner disciple or an outer sect steward?"
Huo Yuhao froze on the bed. All the conspiracy theories swirling through his head ground to a halt the moment he heard those words.
What the hell?
Did your brain get caught in the spawn point?
Using his senses, Huo Yuhao stared hard at the little girl kneeling on the floor.
Then it suddenly clicked.
He pieced together what he had heard before passing out.
Holy Soul Village, Old Jack, Tang Hao... and now this girl who kept invoking the Bashu Tang Sect.
As someone who had crossed worlds and once knew the story well, Huo Yuhao connected the dots in an instant.
He seemed to have traveled ten thousand years into the past, to the very beginning of the story of the Douluo Continent!
And this humble little girl before him was no illegitimate daughter of Tang San's. She was Tang San herself, freshly reincarnated into the Douluo Continent!
Once he understood, Huo Yuhao's heartbeat quickened, and he burst into wild laughter inside.
Heavens, you really have been good to me!
Huo Yuhao looked at Tang Sanmei kneeling on the floor, a flash of satisfaction in his eyes.
Just you wait, Tang San.
Huo Yuhao took a deep breath and suppressed his elation.
He deliberately put on a stern face.
"An outer disciple?"
Huo Yuhao gave a cold snort and said haughtily,
"A mere outer disciple who hasn't even touched the inner sect's threshold dares to ask about my identity? Who gave you the nerve?"
That's exactly how it should sound!
Far from feeling insulted by those blunt words, Tang Sanmei shuddered, even more certain of Huo Yuhao's identity.
"Please forgive me, Senior Brother!"
Frightened, Tang Sanmei hastily bowed her head again and said in a trembling voice,
"Third Lady overstepped! Third Lady knows she was wrong!"
"Hmph!"
Leaning against the headboard, Huo Yuhao glanced at her and said,
"I'm hungry. Is this how you treat a fellow disciple and senior brother?"
As if granted a pardon, Tang Sanmei scrambled up, picked up the bowl of porridge, and carefully brought a spoonful to Huo Yuhao's lips.
From her eyes to her every movement, she was terrified he might be displeased in the slightest.
Huo Yuhao opened his mouth and drank the porridge without a trace of expression.
Inside, though, he was beside himself with delight.
This feels good!
So damn good!
When Huo Yuhao finished the porridge, he deliberately frowned and complained,
"Too bland. And my legs are a little sore."
"Yes! Third Lady will be sure to remember next time!"
Tang Sanmei quickly set down the bowl, knelt beside the bed again, and gently kneaded Huo Yuhao's legs with her soft little hands.
As she worked, she anxiously watched his face.
"Senior Brother, is this pressure all right?"
Looking at his humbled enemy, Huo Yuhao sneered inwardly.
He enjoyed Tang Sanmei's service without a shred of guilt and said casually,
"You said you wanted to hand over all the Tang Sect Secret Arts to me and make me sect master?"
Tang Sanmei's eyes lit up, and she nodded again and again.
"Yes! As long as you're willing, Senior Brother, Third Lady will do anything!"
"In your dreams!"
Huo Yuhao gave a cold laugh.
"You're a criminal who secretly learned the inner sect's secret arts, and now you're a girl. What right do you have to talk to me about rebuilding the Tang Sect? Why should I believe you won't hold me back?"
Tang Sanmei went pale, and her eyes instantly reddened, but she bit her lip and made no sound.
Driven by her obsession with reviving the Tang Sect, she suddenly raised her head. Her eyes burned as she stared at Huo Yuhao and spoke as though swearing an oath.
"Senior Brother! Third Lady knows her standing is low, but she's willing to work like an ox or a horse for you! If you'll shoulder the Tang Sect's burden, Third Lady would gladly be nothing more than a bedchamber maid who attends to your daily needs!"
"Work like an ox or a horse?"
Seeing that the time was about right, Huo Yuhao was ready to go with the flow and agree. There would be plenty of time later.
But a thunderous roar suddenly came from outside the door.
"Why the hell should Tang Hao's daughter work like an ox or a horse for some stray brat of unknown origins?"
Bang!
A kick shattered the already flimsy wooden door into pieces.
Tang Hao strode in, his face dark with fury, carrying a bowl of chicken soup.
Tang Sanmei had sent Tang Hao to make chicken soup. But as soon as he neared the door, he heard the precious daughter he had pampered since childhood tearfully begging to become that boy's bedchamber maid!
"Boy, I don't care where you came from or what spell you cast on my daughter!"
Tang Hao slammed the bowl onto the table, pointed at the door, and threatened viciously,
"As soon as you're well, get the hell out! Stay away from my daughter!"
Any ordinary child would have wet himself at the sight of such a ferocious man.
But this was Huo Yuhao.
He had never been easily frightened, not even as a child.
Before he could speak, though, Tang Sanmei panicked.
"Dad! What are you doing?"
Tang Sanmei sprang up from the floor and spread her arms in front of Huo Yuhao's bed. Her delicate little face was full of alarm as she protested loudly,
"You can't drive him away! He can't leave!"
Tang Hao's eyes widened as he stared at his daughter in disbelief.
"Third Lady, you're snapping at your father over this stray brat?"
"He's not a stray brat! Dad, you don't understand him!"
In her panic, and with the feudal ideas drilled into her far too deeply, Tang Sanmei blurted out,
"He's the man Third Lady has sworn to follow and serve for the rest of her life! Dad, if you drive him away, Third Lady will go with him!"
Crack!
The corner of the table beneath Tang Hao's hand crumbled to splinters. His heart felt as though it were bleeding.
I've only been tending this cabbage for a few years, and before it's even warmed up, it's throwing itself into a wild boar's mouth!
Tang Hao shook with anger. Pointing at Huo Yuhao, he laughed in fury.
"Fine, fine, fine! Boy, what kind of skill is hiding behind a little girl? If you've got balls, say something!"
As he spoke, Tang Hao deliberately sent a wisp of killing intent toward Huo Yuhao.
He did not truly mean to kill the little beggar. He only wanted to scare him.
Once the boy was frightened out of his wits, his daughter would see him for the coward he was and stop being so stubborn.
But the next moment, Tang Hao froze.
The sight he had imagined—Huo Yuhao bursting into tears—never came.
The frail boy simply leaned against the headboard. He did not even lift an eyelid; he casually picked at his ear.
Was he joking?
In his previous life, Huo Yuhao had faced the pressure of the god-king-level Asura God.
That wisp of Tang Hao's killing intent felt no different from a cool breeze. It was not even enough to scratch an itch.
"Trying to scare me?"
Huo Yuhao sneered disdainfully.
Then he reached out, moved Tang Sanmei aside from in front of him, and said calmly,
"Step aside, Third Lady. Since an elder wants to know, I, as your senior brother, should naturally give him an explanation."
