Ch. 21The Cheat Arrived
Plot points and events
- Jiang Mingyang and Ma Hongjun stop overnight in a forest on their way back to the Heaven Dou Imperial Capital. Jiang senses a concealed Soul Master nearby and tries to draw him out.
- The hidden attacker suddenly targets Ma Hongjun. Jiang blocks the strike, and the pair retaliate, revealing that their opponent is a powerful Soul King with exceptional invisibility.
- Their attacks fail to finish him. The Soul King slips through Jiang’s sword cage and wounds him, but Jiang’s bracelet absorbs his blood, transforms into a glowing cube, and exposes the attacker.
- Jiang strikes the revealed Soul King with Divine Thunder, which the cube turns golden. The attack reduces the enemy to ash.
- Jiang’s blood and the cube merge into an Imperial Jade Seal bearing the inscription “Mandated by Heaven, long life and lasting prosperity.” It flies into Jiang’s hands, and both men recognize its political significance.
- Ma Hongjun kneels and pledges to follow Jiang in overthrowing the corrupt Empires and uniting the realm. Jiang accepts the loyalty, comparing their possible partnership to Emperor De and his founding minister Zhongti. The chapter ends with Jiang contemplating the seal and believing that Heaven may have chosen him.
