The Clear Sky Sect didn't live in Shrek City. They could simply return to Clear Sky Castle after the fight. What happened to Shrek Academy was none of their concern.
The Clear Sky Sect?!
At those words, Xuan Zi froze. Even Song Yunzhi and Zhuang Yusen went pale.
Neither of them had imagined that this expert, whose strength surpassed Xuan Zi's, came from the Clear Sky Sect, which had been forced into seclusion.
After all, the Clear Sky Sect, Shrek, and the Tang Sect all belonged to the same camp under the Sea God's faith.
In a sense, this was a flood washing over the Dragon King's temple—one family fighting its own.
As for the only person who knew the truth, Yan Shaozhe lay sprawled on the ground like a dead dog. Forget explaining anything; no one even knew whether he was alive.
Unable to decide what to do, they all turned toward their pillar of support, Mu En. He was looking up into the air, his gaze fixed overhead, his expression graver than they had ever seen.
Puzzled, they followed his gaze. One glance, and their hearts skipped a beat.
Just as Mu En had realized, none of them knew when the figure seated in midair had arrived.
Xuan Zi's throat went dry. He took an involuntary step back.
The man might have been sitting there since Xuan Zi arrived. While Xuan Zi had been brawling with Tai Tan, he had simply watched in silence.
At the thought, a shudder rose from the soles of Xuan Zi's feet and swept through every limb and bone.
And one question had been nagging at him: had the Clear Sky Sect attacked Yan Shaozhe because of what had happened to that brat Tang Qi today?
But wasn't Tang Qi merely the Young Master of the Clear Sky Sect? Judging by these two men's strength, they had to be the sect's ancestors. Would they really come knocking in person over such a small matter?
That was absurd! Anyone who didn't know better would think Tang Qi was the Sea God's Son descended to earth, with those two acting as his bodyguards.
"May I ask what you intend to do?"
Mu En drew a deep breath and spoke in a low voice, keeping his tone as deferential as he could.
Shrek could no longer withstand turmoil on this scale.
His own end was near. After only a brief exchange of glances with Niu Tian, Mu En understood that even with the Golden Ancient Tree bolstering him, he might not be a match for the man before him.
And Tai Tan stood nearby, capable of beating Xuan Zi down with one hand. If a fight broke out, Shrek would have no hope of holding them off.
Fortunately, since they belonged to the same camp under the Sea God's faith, there might still be a chance to turn swords into jade and silk.
He simply could not understand why the Clear Sky Sect, forced into seclusion years ago, had suddenly produced two peerless experts.
"Mu En."
Niu Tian spoke slowly. His voice rang like an ancient bell, echoing in the ears of the trembling group.
"My name is Niu Tian. Today, I need you to answer one question."
If he's willing to talk, there's still a way forward.
Mu En felt a little relieved, though his expression did not change. "I'm listening."
"Between Shrek and the Sea God, which is it: Shrek's Sea God, or the Sea God's Shrek?"
"Isn't that obvious? Shrek's Sea God, of course!"
Xuan Zi blurted out the answer without thinking, sounding as though it went without saying. "The Sea God is Shrek's most prized signboard—"
He never finished.
Roar—!
A dragonlike boom, wrapped in brilliant power of light, tore through the air without warning.
Before Song Yunzhi and Zhuang Yusen could react, Xuan Zi went flying backward. He snapped several large trees before finally coming to a stop.
Mu En slowly lowered his hand and looked back at Niu Tian. Only when he saw that Niu Tian's expression had not changed did he quietly breathe a sigh of relief.
Who could become a Limit Douluo without being extraordinary? What Limit Douluo would indulge Xuan Zi's behavior the way Mu En did?
Before reaching Super Douluo, seeing a Limit Douluo was like a frog at the bottom of a well gazing at the moon in the sky. After reaching Super Douluo, it was like a mayfly gazing up at the boundless heavens.
Mu En might have been a candle guttering in the wind, but dealing with Xuan Zi was still as easy as turning his hand.
A moment later, Xuan Zi flew back, covered in dust and looking thoroughly disheveled.
His brain might have been tiny, but even he could catch on quickly after making a mess of things. This time, he behaved himself, shrinking behind Mu En without a word.
"I've said it all along. Shrek simply cannot see its own place."
"A broken academy that didn't even have the qualifications at first basked in the Sea God's glory and became the continent's foremost academy. Then it turned around and repaid that kindness with betrayal."
"This has gone far beyond ordinary insolence! It needs to be struck hard!"
Tai Tan growled and stamped forward. His Soul Power bore down on the people of Shrek with crushing pressure.
Inside Shrek City.
"Why does the ground keep shaking in bursts?" A middle-aged man stood by the street, staring toward the outskirts in bewilderment.
"No idea. Look at the horizon—it keeps lighting up, too. Think a thunderstorm's coming?" His neighbor craned his neck and muttered beside him.
As the two murmured to each other, a group approached from the far end of the long street.
Tang Xue led the way.
Jiang Nannan, Tang Ya, Huo Yutong, and the others followed behind her, hurrying along with different expressions on their faces.
Wu Feng, bringing up the rear, quickened her pace to catch Ning Tian and whispered in her ear, "Young Master, we're not from the Clear Sky Sect. Why do we have to come along?"
"Haven't you noticed? Everyone here has a connection to Tang Qi. Think about what happened during the day."
"Oh!" Understanding dawned on Wu Feng. Then she tilted her head. "What do you mean, Young Master?"
"..."
Ning Tian pursed her lips, speechless, then turned and rolled her eyes at Wu Feng.
The phrase "big chest, no brains" was made for people like Wu Feng.
Before you actually met one, you thought people were joking.
Was it really so hard to understand? The people from the Clear Sky Sect behind Tang Qi were about to clash with Shrek's higher-ups, so they had brought the girls out ahead of time to keep them from getting caught up in it.
Ning Tian could not be bothered with the thickheaded fool anymore and picked up her pace.
Wu Feng stuck out her tongue, asked no more questions, and followed obediently.
It had all happened so suddenly, and it was already late at night. The girls were still groggy and somewhat dazed.
Only the carefree Tang Ya remained as boisterous as ever. One moment she pinched Xiao Xiao's cheeks; the next, she reached over to paw at Jiang Nannan's arm.
She finally settled down after Jiang Nannan gave her an exasperated huff.
Huo Yutong kept her head down and said nothing the entire way.
"Sister Tian Meng, has something happened to Brother Tang Qi?" The girl sank into the Sea of Consciousness and looked toward the figure who, for once, was not curled up naked beneath her covers.
Tian Meng hovered in midair with her arms folded across her chest, her golden eyes half narrowed as though she were straining to sense something.
Hearing Huo Yutong, she turned and rolled her eyes at her, her tone light but disdainful.
"What? Something happen to Tang Qi? It's good enough if he doesn't make something happen to someone else."
Tian Meng curled her lip. "But I can sense two incredibly powerful auras clashing outside Shrek City. One of them belongs to someone on Tang Qi's side."
Huo Yutong only half understood.
Outside the Sea of Consciousness.
Tang Xue had led them to the Clear Sky Sect's shop in Shrek City.
Even at night, the sprawling shop blazed with light. The clanging of metal being forged could be heard from outside.
Xiao Xiao had been half asleep, but now she perked up. The little girl blinked her big eyes and gently nudged the listless Huo Yutong with her elbow.
"Yutong, I came here with Tang Qi before."
"There's a massive equipment factory inside."
Then Xiao Xiao pointed at Tang Xue's back. "And the auntie leading us is a Titled Douluo!"
"..."
"Xiao Xiao, when did you come here with Brother Tang Qi?"
Before you continue
