Ch. 261A God? The Word Fit
- Shinji overwhelms Madara and Hashirama: Madara and Hashirama renew their assault with Susanoo’s blade and a swarm of Sage-enhanced Wood Dragons. Shinji drops his own Susanoo and absorbs both attacks through the Rinnegan in his palm, including the Senjutsu Chakra. The two legends realize they cannot defeat him and shift to taijutsu, aiming instead to test his abilities.
- Shinji reveals more of his power: Their physical clash leaves Hashirama’s Reanimated Body badly damaged and breaks Susanoo’s blade. Shinji explains that his Truth-Seeking Orbs embody annihilation and creation. He then uses spatial passages to attack both opponents at once, erasing Madara with black flames and Hashirama with an enlarged Truth-Seeking Orb. Both later begin regenerating.
- The Kage recognize Konoha’s purpose: Watching from the stands, the assembled leaders are stunned by Shinji’s abilities. Ōnoki calls his power godlike, and Rasa agrees that “a god” fits. They understand that Konoha’s invitation was a demonstration of strength intended to persuade the Five Kage to accept Shinji’s authority and new rules for the Shinobi World. Mabui acknowledges that the world has little choice if Shinji sets the rules; Rasa says he had already accepted this.
- Reactions among the observers: Kakashi marvels that peace might come through one person’s rule, while Minato trusts Shinji’s strength and character. Mei watches Shinji with open fascination and blushes.
Character developments and interactions: Madara’s bravado gives way to grim recognition of Shinji’s superiority; Hashirama remains curious and proposes one final way to learn more, despite admitting they cannot force Shinji to reveal his full power. Shinji stays cheerful and willing to continue sparring. The Kage move from shock and fear toward resignation, while Minato and Kakashi express confidence in Shinji as a potential source of peace.
Themes: Overwhelming power reshapes political order; peace may come through submission to a powerful ruler rather than consensus. The chapter also contrasts human limits with near-divine ability and presents strength, character, and trust as reasons the world might accept Shinji’s rule. The chapter ends with Hashirama hinting at one last test.
