Watching the battle

Neji activated his Byakugan. Although he was in the inn, he could see everything happening over at the Kaguya Clan clearly.

Under cover of night, the fully armed members of the Kaguya Clan melted into the darkness one after another, racing toward the Mizukage Building.

At the head of the charge, Taketori Yoshisue led a squad of the Kaguya Clan's elite straight toward the Mizukage Office Building.

The Kirigakure Anbu monitoring the Kaguya Clan immediately sent word to the higher-ups they each served as soon as the clan began to move.

At the Mizukage Office Building, Karatachi Yagura received the Anbu's report right away. At his command, a large number of Anbu concealed themselves throughout the building, waiting for the Kaguya Clan to arrive.

The net was open, the trap was set, and all that remained was for the prey to arrive.

Mizukage Karatachi Yagura was not the only one making preparations. Kirigakure's other faction, led by Genji, had also dispatched a large force of Kirigakure ninja to watch from hiding.

Neji saw Ao, who possessed a single Byakugan, standing quietly beside the old man with the snake-shaped cane.

He also saw Mei Terumi, who possessed two kekkei genkai, directing Kirigakure's ninja there.

Their position was beyond the scouting range of an ordinary Byakugan. The Kirigakure ninja they had stationed occupied the streets between the Kaguya Clan compound and the Mizukage Office Building, apparently to keep the incident from spreading.
