Negotiations with the Goblin King went very smoothly.
The Goblin King was clearly far more intelligent than the average goblin. In Xu Yi's opinion, he would have been considered exceptionally bright even among humans.
He understood the vast gap in strength between the goblins and the enemies they now faced. When he learned that Xu Yi had actually come to negotiate peace, his first reaction was astonishment, followed by a very happy acceptance.
As for Xu Yi's terms, he raised virtually no objections. The only condition he proposed himself was that his life be spared and his survival guaranteed.
Xu Yi was certainly not stingy on that point. He promised the Goblin King ample protection, along with a comfortable life beyond anything he could previously have imagined.
As for the Goblin Race as a whole, the Goblin King promised to cooperate with Xu Yi and the Xinfei Merchant Guild by issuing orders to the other goblins on the Demoncloud Continent.
Of course, the Goblin King also made it clear to Xu Yi that the goblins had never been a unified people. Not all goblins would obey his orders, and even getting those orders to every goblin would be difficult.
Xu Yi did not particularly mind. All he needed was a pretext to spare the goblins' lives so he could keep them as laborers.
Once news spread that the Goblin King had surrendered, the other goblins would presumably stop foolishly throwing their lives away fighting the Xinfei Merchant Guild. That would spare the guild and the other races considerable trouble.
The Goblin King's surrender marked the end of the Goblin Race's thousands of years of rule over the Demoncloud Continent.
