President Reilsa did not dwell on the issue of the guards, quickly turning the conversation to the targets of their operation instead.
Xu Yi had no expertise in matters like these, nor did he care much about them. Thinking he might have to stay up late that night, he simply climbed back into the carriage and had a good sleep.
The convoy did not stop as it passed near the Worrel Werewolf Tribe, but headed straight to the designated location.
By the time the convoy stopped at its destination, night was already falling.
Xu Yi jumped out of the carriage and beckoned over several commanders of his Guards Corps to ask about the situation.
All three said they had noticed nothing unusual, so Xu Yi could only wave them away and tell them to keep their guard up.
With night already upon them, setting up a complete camp was out of the question. The convoy simply formed a rough circle to create a makeshift camp, where they planned to spend the night.
It was nearly the end of October, and there was nothing to provide shelter on the Black Rice Wasteland. Once night fell, a chill crept into the air.
Xu Yi wrinkled his nose and could not help remarking, "If it were me, my first choice right now would be to go home and get a good night's sleep. I certainly wouldn't come out on a cold night like this to do such a miserable job, like these idiot beastmen. They might even lose their lives."
President Reilsa laughed beside him. "Beastmen grow up in harsh conditions like these. They aren't as pampered as you, President Xu. Of course, coming here to throw their lives away is their own mistake. But who told them to come after us?"
"Exactly.
