A massive fireball grazed past Xu Yi at an angle and slammed into the cliff with a deafening explosion, blasting an enormous crater into the rock.
Xu Yi and Stille flew apart, both panting slightly.
They had fought this Great Mage who had appeared out of nowhere for less than three minutes, yet they had already used every trick they knew and narrowly escaped danger several times.
There was no helping it. A Great Mage and an ordinary mage were separated by an entire rank, and their strength was worlds apart.
Even though Xu Yi was only one step away from becoming a Great Mage, until he crossed that threshold, he was powerless to fight back against one.
Still, the two of them were not entirely helpless.
Thanks to Great Mage Camilla's frequent instruction and demonstrations, they had a clear understanding of a Great Mage's control over magic. That understanding was precisely what had allowed them to hold out this long under this Great Mage's ferocious assault.
Watching them dodge back and forth under his attacks, occasionally using defensive magic to cleverly negate some of the damage and avoid serious injury, the Great Mage suddenly burst out laughing.
"Listen, you two should just give up already. Don't think someone will come to rescue you if you keep stalling. I've already set up a Spatial Isolation Array around this area. No sound or image from here can escape this space. Nobody will discover that anything has happened to you."
Xu Yi snorted. In fact, while dodging the Great Mage's attacks earlier, he had already noticed the Spatial Isolation Array.
