About twenty minutes later, the Mana Sedan carrying Kennard and Ambassador Hakane left the small town they had passed through earlier and arrived at an open area roughly ten kilometers south of it.
A large stretch of land had been enclosed by what looked like a ring of walls, and a constant clamor could be heard from inside even at a distance.
Outside the enclosure, a separate area had been cleared for parking. Mana Sedans in various colors, medium-sized passenger magic locomotives, and Large Passenger Magic Locomotives stood there, along with a few horse-drawn carriages.
The sight of those horse-drawn carriages suddenly stirred a sense of familiarity in Ambassador Hakane.
Almost everything he had seen and experienced since entering the Stantin Duchy had been entirely unfamiliar, to the point that he had begun to wonder whether he had arrived in another world.
Only after seeing those familiar carriages did he feel that he was still on the Sains Continent, rather than having entered a whole new world after descending the cliff.
A large crowd had gathered in the open plaza outside, and everyone was streaming into the enclosure.
Their faces were filled with excitement and anticipation, as though whatever they were about to see mattered a great deal to them.
To Ambassador Hakane's surprise, their Mana Sedan did not park with the others. Instead, it circled around to the rear of the wall and drove through an open gate.
Only after getting out did Ambassador Hakane realize that his observations from outside had been completely mistaken.
This was no simple ring of walls, but a structure with considerable depth and thickness.
