Two workers placed a rectangular steel plate, 3.7 meters long, 3.6 meters wide, and just seven millimeters thick, on the worktable of a Magic Machine Tool.
One worker then pressed a button. The worktable rose about ten centimeters before moving beneath the Punching Ram, stopping when exactly thirty-seven centimeters of the plate's left edge protruded beyond it.
The Punching Ram descended, and the steel plate bent slightly under its immense pressure.
Once a slight curve had formed along one edge of the previously flat steel plate, the Punching Ram rose. The conveyor belt on the worktable advanced the plate a little farther, and the Punching Ram descended again, repeating the operation.
After several dozen repetitions, the entire steel plate had been bent into a perfect semicircle.
As soon as the curved steel plate emerged from the conveyor belt, Lumi, who had been waiting nearby, rushed over. She ran her small hand over it, examined it carefully from every angle, then turned to Xu Yi in amazement. "Good heavens, that's a perfect curve! How on earth did you do it?"
Xu Yi smiled slightly. "You'll have to ask Sanchelli. He was responsible for developing the core magic arrays for this automatic Magic-Powered Punch-Forging Machine Tool. He understands the principles better than I do."
Standing beside Xu Yi, Sanchelli chuckled and waved a hand, pointing at Canby on his right. "I only designed a few magic arrays. If Canby and his people hadn't been skilled enough to bring my ideas to life perfectly, they would have been useless."
Canby opened his broad mouth and laughed, making no attempt at modesty. Still, he raised an arm and slapped Sanchelli hard on the thigh. "Sanchelli's magic arrays are pretty remarkable too. Otherwise, this machine couldn't possibly be so powerful."
Lumi waved her little arms
