The repeated, thunderous explosions passed through the ground into the underground dungeon, reduced to dull thuds that sounded far less impressive.
Great Mage Rena glanced up at the thick stone ceiling, picked his ear with a complete lack of dignity, then asked Xu Yi beside him, "Mr. President, isn't it about time we left? From the sound of it, Hart and the others have already started fighting that fellow outside. If they accidentally hit this place, I can't promise I'll be able to protect everyone here."
"Yes, we need to move faster." Xu Yi nodded and glanced at the soldiers sprawled across the dungeon floor. After a moment's thought, he called to Akali, who was busy gathering all her subordinates together, "Hey, Akali, leave with Rena first. I'll stay behind and get these fellows out too."
Rena paused. "Why bother getting them out?"
"If we leave them here and something goes wrong, they might all die."
Rena curled his lip in disdain. "Hmph, let them die. These fellows dared to lock up our guild's people for so long. We were already showing mercy by not killing them all just now. Why bother doing anything more for them?"
"Our goal today is to rescue people, not kill them," Xu Yi said.
So far, the entire operation had gone remarkably smoothly.
First, Rena had appeared to draw the attention of Great Mage Randy, who was keeping watch outside. Xu Yi had then taken the opportunity to enter the dungeon directly using Teleportation Magic.
Next, Hart had arrived with ten Mana Airships and kept Great Mage Randy occupied, allowing Rena to slip into the dungeon as well.
With both Xu Yi and Rena acting together, even the dungeon's extremely tight security had been unable to react before all its guards were taken down.
