A roar almost beyond comprehension erupted inside the sealed bridge.

It was a fragment of a macro-cannon shell shattered by point-defense fire far above. Following an almost impossible trajectory, it pierced the armor and struck the bridge's side wall with unerring precision.

Explosive flames tore through the bridge armor. In an instant, the entire side wall buckled, shattered, and peeled away, exposing the blackness of space beyond.

Half the bridge lay exposed to vacuum. Countless corpses and Space Marines who had no time to brace themselves were sucked through the breach by the savage rush of escaping air.

The remains of the fallen tumbled through the opening like discarded dolls, swiftly becoming translucent silhouettes against the starlight before vanishing into the torn darkness.

The warriors still alive tried to seize anything fixed in place around them, their fingers scraping shrill screeches across metal surfaces. But some were still swept up, dragged spinning through the breach, and reduced to frozen corpses in space within seconds.
