The Emperor shot Lorgar a look that said, "Do you really expect me to believe that?" Then he began earnestly trying to persuade Angron.
"I am the Master of Mankind. That is my foremost identity. You may refuse to acknowledge me as your father, but for humanity's sake, could you..."
"No," Angron answered before the Emperor could finish.
"What about your Legion, then?"
"I can do without it. I'll just follow my brother Lorgar and serve as his Adjutant."

Come on, man. I finally got within one step of becoming the Primarch's Adjutant, and now some big red-faced guy comes barging in out of nowhere?
If Angron became the Legion's Adjutant, the other Chapter Masters could forget about promotions. They would just have to settle for being Chapter Masters for the rest of their lives.
"Ah, brother."
"Just listen to our father. Apart from being smug, narcissistic, arrogant, taciturn, fond of speaking in riddles, deliberately stringing people along instead of explaining himself, and forcing others to do whatever he likes, he doesn't really have any faults."
"All right. I'm willing to join you on the Great Crusade."
After much persuasion, Angron agreed to take part in the Great Crusade, but he had one condition: the War Hounds were still short on numbers, and he did not quite understand certain aspects of the Great Crusade.
So Angron requested that he follow Lorgar for a while first, to learn how to deal with alien civilizations and pocket empires.
The Emperor had no objection. Lorgar was such a normal fellow; surely he could teach Angron properly... right?
A few minutes later.
"This is the fire button, and this is the button for ordering exterminatus. See that alien planet up ahead? Blow it up for me!"
