Lorgar sat upright on the Asteroid floating in the void, his body utterly still and his gaze calmly fixed on the ever-shifting Sea of Stars. Yet his mind was working at astonishing speed, working through the situation, analyzing every possible opening, and assessing the feasibility of every response.

This time, Lorgar chose to trust himself and break through this Warp blockade with his own strength.

He knew the Emperor was powerful, but constantly begging a greater power for protection would only make him regress. Humanity needed to advance through its own abilities, just as the Emperor allowed it to do, watching it develop and progress on its own most of the time.

And just now, through his observations and his psychic probing of everything around him, Lorgar had already discerned the labyrinth's probable origins.

The constantly shifting structures of space and time, the twisted chains of cause and effect, the omnipresent Warp power coiling around him like a spiderweb—all of it pointed to one particular being.

This Labyrinth was probably the work of a Greater Daemon serving Tzeentch. Only a servant of the Lord of Change could construct a labyrinth so intricate, so complex, and so contrary to reason.

The Labyrinth's ability to rewind time rendered his ordinary attacks almost useless.

No matter how powerful the psychic attacks he unleashed, no matter how sharp his sword's radiance, those attacks would be reversed, denied, and erased through the manipulation of time.

Forcing his way out through violence would not work in this Labyrinth.

So, to deal with its creator, he needed wit rather than force.

Lorgar slowly closed his eyes and extended his psychic senses as far as they would
