Iax was not entirely ignorant of the Necrons.

As far back as humanity's Age of Expansion, when the armies of the Men of Iron swept across the Milky Way for their Creators, they had discovered these strange, slumbering mechanical life-forms.

Although only a few smaller Tomb Worlds had been discovered, those records still existed in Iax's archives.

Watching the Scarab Destroyer wreak havoc, Iax barely hesitated. Whatever ultimately became of the humans of this era, these xenos enemies still needed to be eliminated.

Unlike the warp daemons, which appeared as masses of energy in his vision whose nature he could not interpret, these Necrons were enemies he clearly knew how to deal with.

Although he lacked combat machines to command, standing at the rear and providing fire support for the Bodyguard was a good option.

The Bodyguard Robot that had blocked the explosive debris flipped its palm over, replacing its mechanical hand with a Heavy Laser Repeater. Dense beams of laser fire engulfed the Scarab Destroyer and the Necron Warriors behind it almost instantly.

The intense heat released by the heavy lasers turned the Necrons' bodies red-hot.

But only some of the Necrons had their energy cores struck and burned out by the lasers.

Clearly, however, laser weapons were not particularly effective against these Necron enemies made of living metal.

Iax also tried his own Neutron Beam Weapon, but its performance was clearly even worse than that of the heavy laser cannon.

The towering Scarab Destroyer raised its Gauss Cannon and immediately returned fire. The other Necron Warriors nearby also levelled their Gauss Rifles and concentrated their fire on the Bodyguard Robot.

The Bodyguard's thick, double-layered shields consumed more than half of its power supply. Even the Scarab Destroyer's Gauss Cannon could not easily penetrate them.
