The Servitor slowly turned sideways, and the distinct sound of machinery gradually reached everyone's ears through their protective suits. At the same time, a loud hiss of escaping gas came from the tops of the metal tanks.
The environmental readings on their vacuum suits suddenly flashed green notifications. The surrounding air pressure and composition now met the requirements for breathing.
A voice identical to the one over the comms rang clearly from the Servitor's speaker.
"Based on the notification, conducting the tax inspection will require some time. Your emergency protective equipment cannot sustain you for the remainder of the journey. To ensure the work proceeds smoothly, this unit will follow the instructions left by the Automated Control Core, providing suitable equipment and assisting you with the rest of the inspection. All equipment will be given to you as gifts upon completion of the mission."
As he spoke, the Servitor opened a metal door in the nearby wall. Inside a small sealed compartment stood ten suits of mechanical armour, their backs open.
"Remove your protective equipment. This unit has adjusted the air pressure and composition within this compartment. Removing your protection will cause no problems. These Hazardous Environment Work Suits will be your gifts."
Inquisitor Vane and the four Tempestus Scions beside him were taken aback by the enormous mechanical suits, which rivalled Astartes Terminators in size.
Although they did not recognize the equipment, its angular, imposing appearance and the few exposed openings that looked suspiciously like weapon barrels gave it a certain resemblance to Astartes Terminator Armour.
The corner of Vane's mouth twitched as he looked at the suits, which stood a head taller than him even while hunched over. Dubiously, he put away his Chainsword and turned to the Servitor.
"You call these things Hazardous Environment Work Suits?"
"Yes.
