The Necron fleet was driven back at an unimaginable speed.

Unlike the area below and to the right of the mechanical fleet, which was littered with Aeldari shipwrecks and corpses of every kind, the Necron fleet's sector below and to the left was utterly empty.

An overwhelmingly saturated barrage swept through a vast stretch of the void, ultimately melting a distant asteroid belt into a mass of molten rock drifting through space.

Countless streams of data flashed through Iax's mind core.

The battlefield assessment yielded highly satisfactory results.

Only a handful of small vessels escaped from the entire Aeldari fleet.

Every vessel larger than destroyer-class had its stern sheared off and was reduced to floating space debris.

Other races used torpedoes or psychic teleportation to conduct boarding actions.

The Men of Iron's boarding actions were decidedly straightforward.

Sentinels and the relatively compact Armed Sentinels climbed onto the tops of Heavy Drone Fighters, and nanomachines temporarily fused the mechanical troops' supporting feet to the fighters' hulls.

Like iron discs sprouting mushrooms, the drone fighters hurtled toward the Aeldari vessels that had already lost their mobility and power supplies.

Plasma fire concentrated on the outer hulls, and the dense bombardment at close range soon burned through them.

Once a breach had been opened, each drone fighter plunged headfirst into the enemy vessel.

The mechanical units mounted on the fighters were released, their supporting structures rapidly rebuilt.

Even the drone fighters themselves became makeshift bunkers embedded in the enemy hulls, serving as secure fire support positions.

If necessary, the Men of Iron could directly overload the six plasma cannons on a drone fighter to deliver a devastating strike.

The ultimate result, however, was that these drone fighters, despite having no independent power source, became plasma bombs that detonated inside the enemy hulls.
