The Sisters of Silence were an exceptionally unusual group within the Imperium. They were the Emperor's daughters and the bane of psykers. Over ten thousand years, most of these anti-psychic warriors had vanished without a trace. Only a handful of Sisters of Silence conclaves maintained close cooperation with the Inquisition, continuing to help the Imperium collect its psyker tithe.

These Untouchables not only fought for the Emperor in life; their pure bones retained powerful anti-psychic properties after death.
Their bones could be mounted on shields to protect warriors against psychic attacks and the evil sorcery of the Warp. Small bone fragments could also be ground into powder and added to ammunition to produce highly effective anti-psychic rounds.
Such bullets could easily banish daemons or weaken the power of renegade Space Marines.
They were especially lethal against traitors such as the Thousand Sons' Rubric Marines.
Guilliman hesitated as he looked at those pallid bones.
Much as he wanted to let them rest in peace, that simply was not possible under the circumstances.
