Erson reassured Sagelhan, then gave Mordred a meaningful glance and strode out of the open cage.

If the Emperor wished his soul to return to the Throne today, he would not hesitate.

The Astartes themselves might have been able to identify where these Loyalists came from by their appearance and personalities.

For Iax, however, that was asking rather too much.

These Astartes wore no armour, leaving them without any identifying marks.

Although Iax possessed considerable Imperial data and knew how to identify the traitor Legions, these men were well beyond that knowledge.

But that did not matter. This was not Iax's job.

Once these scarred warriors were returned to the Imperium, the Inquisition would notify the Chapters and have them identify their own.

That ignorance was fortunate, too. Otherwise, the two men belonging to the Word Bearers and the Night Lords would probably have been eliminated by the mechanical forces immediately.

A Sentinel stepped out of the formation and stopped Erson and the large crowd of "naked men" following him in nothing but their underwear. It paused, its electronic eyes flickering slightly, then spoke.

"I am G000325, a junior commander of the mechanical squad. Although this unit cannot determine your precise origins, Imperial biological data still allows me to identify you as Astartes. Please refrain from moving freely around the battlefield to avoid unnecessary danger."

Before Erson could speak, the Automated Sentry spoke first.

An Astartes with somewhat protruding teeth stepped out of the crowd and looked at G000325.

"This is the Drukhari's lair. Why call it a battlefield? Even on a battlefield, Fenrisians never fear a challenge! We may not know why you strange iron clanks kill us just as you kill those xenos, but that doesn't mean we'll obey a bunch of metal xenos and their..."

BOOM!

"...orders."
